I have had many amps over the years, mostly Fender and mostly tube. In the past my experience with solid state was always negative (except the Orange RT35 which I regret selling). I'm not gonna gigging anymore and don't need the 70 watts Fender Baseman tube amp I chose and actually downgraded to the Fender Champion 20 because I needed something small, and quiet enough for home use at night with young kids. It still gets loud enough to play with a bass player or other guitarists over video chat. I thought about the Fender Mustang line but as an IT professional I've see tech obsolescence daily. I didn't want anything that needed firmware updates or won't connect with whatever cell phone I may own 10 years from now.No one can beat Fender at clean amp sounds. I traded in a Supro Blues King 8 at my local guitar store and came home with this amp. Although there's many amp voices and special fx, I find myself using Fender Champ for some dirt and 65 Deluxe for clean. I switch between Spring Reverb and Slap Delay effects. For the type of music I play (oldies, rockabilly, and Johnny Cash style country) I don't need to switch between clean/gain or turn fx on/off mid song.I like how the power cable us removable and the same three prong cable as a computer. If you need a longer one they are $5 online. I also like how the fx are built in. Living in a 100 year old house, with LED bulbs in every light, and dinner switches in every room as well as playing a hollow body guitar always resulted in noise in my signal chain making me go insane. This amp is quiet and I would record with it.Only complaints are minor: makes a pop sound training off which is notoriously common with solid state amps either on, off, or both... And no built in tuner like the competition.Verdict this $129 amp is a hidden gem in the Fender line. If you prefer traditional amp interface go with this over a Fender Mustang.

I am a beginner learning both on a classical guitar and electric and I did many reviews, watched many amp demos on YouTube, and priced value versus wants. I received this amp in two days and love it! It sounds great. I have a Vintage 1969 Teisco Del Ray E110 and it sounds great on it. I love the vast selection of Voices and SFX on it. This was a great choice and am well pleased.

"Little Amp with a Big Sound"

This little amp is pretty amazing for its size and cost. It has a lot of features thanks to the wonderful world of digital electronics. It's low price is certainly due to its being assembled overseas, but don't let that scare you off. If you're looking for a great little practice amp then look no further. This has loads of nice effects, and even models several types of amps, past and present. Can other amps do it better? Sure. But you will pay more for them for the most part. This is Fender, and Fender has always done a great job in my opinion. The 8" speaker is actually much more pleasant sounding than I thought it might be. The effects work well and give the player some dynamic ranges that might otherwise be unavailable at this price point. I suppose you could even gig with this thing if you mic'd it up, but make no mistake, 20 watts into this little 21st century speaker really kicks. You have a good deal of gain as well, which provides a nice level of "tube-like" preamp distortion. The effects have a level control as well, so you can add as much or as little as you deem necessary. The effects are pretty decent too: Flanger, Chorus, Delay with reverb; the usual lot. I have messed with this amp a bit over the past several days since receiving it, and I'm suitably impressed. Again, I'm looking at this as a practice amp, which is why I bought it. And on that level I have to say I got more for my money than I expected. The only "drawback" is that there is no separate reverb circuit, but for me that didn't matter as I already had a reverb pedal effect, which I just replaced with an even better one. I would buy this unit again if I had to, and I recommend it as a handy tool for practicing. It's light, very portable and loads of fun to mess with. Sound I will rate at 41/2, as I think it would be a tad better with a 10, but who cares? I have never needed any manufacturer support for any of my Fender gear...ever. Not even back in the '60's! Rugged, dependable, excellent.

I lost all my gear awhile back in a fire so I bought this little guy and an Affinity Tele as a quick replacement. When I am able I'll upgrade. This review is purely my own opinion. This little guy is perfect for what it's designed for, beginners and bedroom rock stars, lol! That said, it is a good amp, the effects are usable. Personally I like the tweed deluxe and '65 deluxe amp models the best with the spring reverb. This little guy does a good job clean or a bit dirty. Now then where this amp really shines, in my opinion is in the British amp models 60's, 70's and 80's! Just pick your gain settings. The Super Sonic, 90's metal and 2000 metal models I didn't care for. The 60's British model was my favourite for loads of gain. I'm giving this amp 4.5 stars for an overall rating. I will recommend this amp for practice. It's an excellent beginners amp. Now then all that I've said is based on playing a bottom shelf Squier through it. An upper shelf guitar may react to it better. Actually this little amp really surprised me. It's little but it's loud and not muddled at the correct volume setting, which I run at 3 with the guitar volume maxed out, I also run the guitar tone 100% treble. Experiment with the bass and treble settings on the amp. I guess you could gig with it if you chose too, I don't know, I'm just a bedroom player.

I was worried about the 8" speaker. Not an issue. I was worried about no mid control, only treble and bass. Not an issue. I was worried about the digital amp models. Wow. They are unbelievable. I prefer the Blackface '65 Deluxe setting, Gain on 5, Treble 7, Bass 7, Spring Reverb from the FX. This thing is LOUD. But Fender-loud, meaning I can crank the gain to 10 and it won't distort. For distortion, just head on over to the three metal channels and start to peel paint. You'll never spend a better $99. Next I'll be moving up to a Champion 40 to enjoy all the perks of a 12".

For many years I had a Fender 15w Frontman for practicing and fun. It was all I wanted at the time. I decided to upgrade to another Fender amp and the Champion won out. I cannot believe the sounds/effects this cutie produces. To boot, it cost the same amount as my Frontman. Just got it today so I will be exploring new frontiers.

Musician for over 40 years non-stop. I do play with others routinely in studios for fun.
