"New Fender Mustang 1 amp review"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I expect to be busy discovering what I can do with this amp for a long time.If I had to replace it, I would try to upgrade for the bigger Mustang 2.I've considered other alternatives, but those choices would have to include accessories to do what the Mustang would do all by itself. What I like the most about this amp is the very low price.
Sound
The sound of this amp is great for a small combo, and if you get bored with the presets you can make up your own or go online and download new tones from other artists.Something the ads don't mention is that it has a closed back for better bass response- it would probably be great for doing home recordings, and you can change the amp's tone to suit your recording equipment. It's not a tube amp-how many times have you wrestled with some cheesy low-powered tube amp to get a good recording sound? I got rid of my tiny little "Boutique tube amps".
Features
The reason I have given this amp top marks is because a lot of us players have brainstormed wish lists for years- ( what if it had this feature or that) and somehow Fender has put our wish list into a small combo amp for under a hundred dollars. Now I agree- this is not a marshall stack- but if you program it right, you can actually get a tone similar to a hot Marshall, but in miniature. You can plug it into your computer and control it in different ways; this is definitely not a rehash of a frontman amp- It will keep you discovering for a long time.
Ease of Use
Here, top marks again. I pretty much figured it out immediately. It's easy to work with and it's easy to program new sounds, and if you use the supplied usb cable, you can control it any way you want from your computer. Not impressed at first? remember, this amp was built to give you great tones at a fairly low volume. It's like processed sound you would hear listening to a recording on your stereo, not a raging marshall tube amp behind you on stage. You have to see it from that angle.
Quality
I believe the build quality is great ( how could a person build one of these for under a hundred dollars?). I mean, it's not a boutique amp made of figured maple, but it's top quality for the small amount you pay.I don't believe this would break if it fell over-the controls are recessed. No tubes to shatter. The knobs don't feel cheesy, and I believe that it should hold up well in the trunk of a car, even if it got knocked around.
Value
For the money I give it top ratings because no one else offers anything like this for the price. The price is so low, you might have a tendency to disrespect this amp( how could it be any good at such a little price?).
Manufacturer Support
Support? Fender probably spent tons of money to set up support-there is even a website specially for mustang amps, and the amp comes with a dvd to access its recording and customizing abilities.Of course, there probably is or will soon be a forum with chitchat about peoples' discovering new things to do with this amp.In fact, if you dug into all the available support, you wouldn't have time to play your new amp!
The Wow Factor
All I can say is that when I saw it, I wanted it. It looks very appealing- Design, color, control arrangement, speaker cloth. If a friend came over to jam with you and saw it ,you would not feel embarassed. It just looks classy.

"SUPER VALUE FOR THE MONEY!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
If for some reason this was lost or stolen, I would immediately replace it. I am sure it will keep me "satisfied" for a long time - it kind of gets you caught up in "hey, I think I'll try this, or try that" - it gets pretty addicting!!
Sound
Although you do still get a bit of that "solid state" sound quality (of course, not as clear, clean, and rich as a tube amp) - it really has continued to amaze me with all of its possibilities! Once you plug it into your computer, giving you MUCH GREATER controll, you can achieve just about anything you want. You can turn it into any of the good old classic Fender amps ('57 Champ, '59 Bassman, '65 Princeton, Deluxe Reverb, etc.)that we all love - as well as Marshalls, high gain "botique" amps, etc. As another reviewer mentioned, you could pretty much spend all your time exploring - and very little playing time!! The point is: just about endless possibilities!!
Features
As I mentioned - with all the sounds you can create, feature-wise it is unbeatable. Did not come with foot switch, but for the money, I can't complain! One feature I think is very nice, is: once you select your amp model, you can click on "advanced amp", then be able to "plug into" (from that amp head) MANY different speaker cabinets, which gives you even more possibilites!
Ease of Use
"Ease of use"??? . . . kind of a tough question - while maybe not "easy" in the sense that there are so many possibilites that you can achieve - it is still "easy" in that all of the controll functions are easily adjusted. Once you have have selected your amp model - it appears on your computer screen, you then - with your mouse - move your curser to what you want to adjust (gain, volume, treble, bass, etc.) and "have at it"!
Quality
Actually, for the money, this is very well made. Perhaps not the quality of a much higher priced unit - but again, at this price - you can't beat it!!
Value
Value-wise, I would like to be able to make this a "20", instead of a 10!! There is no way you can beat the "value" of this product!!!!
Manufacturer Support
Fender support?? The FEW times I have ever had to deal with them, they are excellent. Always take care of you!
The Wow Factor
Very nicely designed designed, "classy" looking, nice color, grill cloth, etc. - looks like it cost much more that it did.

"Packs a punch! Big on Sound...low on price!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I can see owning this product for many years. I would replace if stolen.
Sound
This Amp pack an amazing punch for it's relatively smaller size. HUGE on features and sound. There are 24 preset amp models to choose from, From clean to jangly to Crunchy to full on distorted shred. You can dial in pretty much any sound for any genre of music. Blues, Jazz, Rock, Metal. Some of the modeled Amps include: Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb, Fender 65 Deluxe Tweed, 65 Deluxe Twin (You can get some big time crunch here), VoxAC30, Fender SuperSonic, Fender 57 Champ, Fender 57 Deluxe, Fender 59 Bassman, 2 Marshall Stack Models, and some crazy super shredder type amp. I bought the Amp for its clean, warm and bluesy tones. The 65 Deluxe Reverb setting has very nice clean tones. Need some of that jangly twang for your Tele....look no further. The 65 Deluxe (tweed) is fantastic for the bluesy tube amp driven sound. I really like the VoxAC30 2x12 Model as well. Sounds very similar to the real deal. In fact I would say that the amp does an excellent job of mimicking the tones of these classic amps. They are all quite different and unique and very playable. As far as the knobs, you have a Master Volume and Volume Control, Gain, Treble and Bass. They are all quite responsive and will allow you to dial in the tone you want on your respective settings. Now for cool part. You can hook this amp to your computer via USB. Software included. This amp will also model about 50 pedals and effects, Overdrive, compression, reverb, delay, chorus, tremlo, fuzz, just to name a few. There are almost too many options to choose from. You kind of have to remind yourself to stop futzing around with all the effects and just play. I will stress you do no need a computer to enjoy the effects but it makes it much easier to manipulate all of the various options you have. There is even a fender forum on line which allows you to download and import other people custom amp settings and replace one of your presets. So if you dont like the metal stuff, you can simply put on another 65 twin reverb, overdrive with a phaser....or whatever you like. I have downloaded several modified amp models that I use regularily. There are a TON of possibilies. Like I said, stop messing around with the computer and just play need to be the back of your head at all times. For a 15 watt amp this thing can get pretty loud. Look's like the new one's are 20's? Though I could be wrong. Eitehr way loud. You could probably still get by this amp an a drummer....though I read reviews by some who claim its fine. Especially if mic'd. For reference, I play a semi-hollow guitar with 2 humbuckers. I have no doubt single coils would sound great as well.
Features
There is a $20 foot switch that is sold separately. I would recommend it. It alllows you to switch from one present to another. Only 2 presets though. For example I have the 65 Deluxe Reverb clean on one setting of the foot switch and overdrive with more gain on the other. Sort of your rhythm and lead overdrive settings if you will. Or you can use the switch to go from 65 Deluxe to VoxAC30. You can program and choose.... Technically you really dont have to buy any other pedals...as they are included in the amp already. However you may want to experiment with different stomp boxes if you wish. I have a Boss Blues Driver bd-2 that works very well with the amp as well. The overdrive stompbox effect included on the amp does a fine job as well. So you can look at it as though you can buy a $20 footswitch overdrive if you will. Or a $20 phazer, chorus, or fuzz pedal. Again, the possibilities are many.
Ease of Use
You do need a computer to use this amp. But it can help. The effects and preset can be manipulated with several knobs. It is simply easier to adjust them on a computer with the software.
Quality
Seems very high quality. I'm blown away for what you get for the money!
Value
Excellent Value! I mean excellent value!
Manufacturer Support
No need to call. Many forums and user groups will solve any problems or answer any questions you would have before you ever had to call Fender. I would only call if there were a product failure....none yet. I have owned the amp about a year.
The Wow Factor
Great looking amp. The "tolex" covering actaully has a herringbone type patter to it that makes it look very nice. Kind of modeled to liik like a mini 65 deluxe reverb. I like it! Looks high quality!

"I've never liked modeling amps.....BUT"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
The only way to beat this is to buy the higher output version of it.
Sound
Seriuosly? A single hundred dollar bill? I purchased mine as a simple travel practice amp. I figured I'd go ahead and try a modeling amp, eventhough I have not been impressed by the competitions offerings. I'm happy that I made the purchase. In fact this has become my "go-to" amp. I've even found myself pushing my pedal board out of the way! If you need something cheap but want something worthy buy this.
Features
You'll only run out of things to play with if you get bored very easily.
Ease of Use
Easy. TOO easy if you hook it up to your computer. In fact downloading the software has been the hardest thing about it.
Quality
If it's Fender and I've owned it,it's not let me down.
Value
This is bang for the buck.
Manufacturer Support
I'm going to assume it got great support because I've never needed it.
The Wow Factor
It looks, feels and sounds like a quality piece of equipment.

I'm not going to write a long review of this amp, because everyone else has already done a great job of that. Simply put, this amp is awesome. You can do so much for so little($). I have had mine for 2 weeks, and it amazes me everytime I use it. I haven't touched any of my stomp boxes since. It just does it all. If you need to get an amp for practice, then this is it. If you play live, just step up to a bigger Mustang. I cannot believe fender packed so much into this little amp! I plan to mic it to a larger amp,and see what happens. I couldn't me more pleased with the sound. You've got to try one to believe it.

I've had this amp for a while now and it's still in perfect condition. However, it should only be paired with a Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster, this is the essential amp for those guitars. it gives you classic feels to hardcore metal feels, to a Sleepwalk sounds (Santo and Johnny, the steel pedal sound) I really recemmend this to a beginner or someone who needs a practice amp, or anyone with a Fender guitar! it has everything!

"Fender Mustang I..... After 9 months"

.
Sound
This being a product of Fender, the clean tones are absolutely fantastic, however when you switch it over to a gain sound, it starts to break up and sound processed, even at low volumes. Thats a normal problem with Soild State amps. Another issue Ive found about it is that it lacks bass, which is a problem if your playing a Les Paul, I find. Overall, the sound is good enough for beginners, but if your looking to be serious at all, look elsewhere.
Features
The Fender Fuse software is nice, and allows alot of control and modification, but I honestly never want to use it. I just cant be bothered. Call me lazy, but Id rather be focused on playing. I wish Fender would maybe of spent more time on the overall sound.
Ease of Use
This amp only has a 2 band EQ, treble and bass. Thats less then you usually get from most amps, even in this price range. Its also to change the effects through the amp. You'll have to plug it into your computer to do so, which can be annoying.
Quality
Very well built. Seems like it could take a bit of banging.
Value
This is very good value. For $100, it really cant be beat by anything of the same wattage.
Manufacturer Support
Never used them.
The Wow Factor
Overall, I suppose it really inst that bad of a practice amp. It allows you to explore your music styles, and find what you like, and if you're honest, isn't that what you want in your first guitar amp?

I will have this amp a long time...if it was stolen I would buy a new one. You will not get a better amp for the price.
Sound
This amp is amazing! For the price it is unbelievable what it can do. When you add the Fuse software the possibilities are endless.
Features
The presets are great and the software is amazing. The software allows you to add more effects and presets.
Ease of Use
I was a little afraid it would be complicated to figure out but it is very easy to use. I had it and the software figured out very quickly.
Quality
This thing is built like a tank. I think it will last a long time.
Value
This amp is worth every penny I paid and more. I really don't see how Fender does it at such a low price.
Manufacturer Support
Have not had to contact Fender, but ZZounds is amazing. They always respond to my emails quickly and have the answers I need.
The Wow Factor
This is a sweet looking amp. Looks tough.
