Overall extremely pleased. If I bought a 68 deluxe reverb in 1968 I would still be using it. This is the sound I hear in my head when I think about amps. Breakup at liveable volume (actually quieter than a Blues junior, but so much more useable) I can rehearse at volume 3 and it sounds good. Volume 5 sounds great at small clubs. Mic this if you need more volume. Natural breakup sounds like a Klon, so I prefer the ts808 style for o.d.
Sound
Sound is great with it without pedals.Responds organically to playing nuances.Perfect for blues, country. The limited edition with creamback Celestion speakerworks very well for classic rock. I am comfortable with the hum from single coil pickups up to volume 5-6. Noiseless 2 or 4 pickup selection great all the way up to 10.Sounds great with humbucker paf style guitars. Put it on volume 5 and control volume with the guitar and pedals.
Features
The reverb on this 68 custom deluxe reverb is a bit more restrained than I expected but works well throughout the dial, so still useable at 9 or 10 for surf music. (I love the tube verbs clarity) The temple is easily controlled. I especially like the subtlety if leaving it at 2 on depth and intensity. Sounds awesome at 5 and 5 for effected tremolo.
Ease of Use
Dead simple, put treble on 6 or 7 , bass on 4 for me (I roll back the tone to 7 on neck pickup, so the "brightness" of a Fender is not an issue. Plays well with superstrat, strat and 335 type guitars.
Quality
Solidly built. No cosmetic flaws. Extra features like chrome 2 button floor switch and Fender logo vinyl cover. No problems with foot switch. Celestion creamback 12-65 It was good enough for Jimi Hendrix. I have no plans to replace it. (I have a Celestion Cream 90 in another amp...this one is close enough)
Value
This compares well with it's TRUE competition. E.g. Carr etcOf course it kills most solid state plus it is cheaper than the amps that can compete soundwise.
Manufacturer Support
Have not needed Fender but feel confidentabout their service.
The Wow Factor
People notice the electric blue tolex and assume it is a special amp. They are not wrong.

At first I was skeptical based solely on some of the negative reviews with noise etc. I knew it was going to sound good regardless so I decided to take a chance. I couldn't be happier! Mine is quiet and has the exact sound That I expected from this amp design. it fills the "clean" gap that I was missing with my other higher gain amps. The sound is full, rich, and very organic. I am running a small pedal board with this amp consisting of a Fulldrive 2, EH Flat Iron Fuzz, and a Guyatone Compressor. With the drive pedals I can easily dial in any gain settings that I need. Very happy with this setup and will definitely be using it live.

"KILLER CLEAN"

This is the second Fender amp I've owned, third if you count my solid state practice combo. This thing has amazing tone, and pretty much beats anything I've ever owned. I really have a fixation for the dark "custom" channel. Being able to use the reverb and vibrato on each channel is also a slight perk over the '65, though I tried both and you cannot go wrong with either. Handles pedals exquisitely, I bought this alongside a ZVEX Russian FF7, matched with the rest of my board it shapes a sound that feels powerful and unique, and I definitely recommend cranking it (as long as your neighbors are far enough away. Lol.)

This was the first amp I bought in 10 years, haha. It is a big upgrade over my Blues Deluxe Reissue, which is another good sounding amp. Before I wrote this review I had it at home for about 10 days and put it through its first gig (4 hour cover band set), and let me tell you. This thing has tone for days! It shined much more at the gig than it did at home. The Blues Deluxe I couldn't turn up past 2-3, but this guy sounded great and not too loud at 5-6. You get that tube character coming through from pushing them a little bit, and everyone was talking about how much better this amp sounded. I also just really liked the blue color. Mine came with a footswitch that can't toggle the tremolo, so I would knock Fender a little bit on quality control here. I did not get the hiss that some others have complained about. I think Fender fixed this issue a couple years ago. I use this amp to play mainly country, classic rock, top 40/variety stuff, but it takes pedals very well and with them it can achieve a nice saturated metal tone. I really love it, but I think it's priced a couple hundred dollars more than it should be. Oh well, I wanted that limited edition blue!

Musical Background:

Been playing guitar for about 18 years, regularly gigging for about 14 years.

Musical Style:

I've done it all from country to death metal, from funk to reggae, from dance to indie.

I was luckily enough to get one of the final batches of these. The 65W Celestion Creamback really puts this amp over the top for tone. If you are luckily enough to find on on the open market snatch it up you will not be disappointed.

This was my first tube amp, I'd owned a line 6 flextone II for years and finally upgraded. This amp is insane, the sound is perfect, everything you'd expect from Fender and their legendary ties with clean tone! Electric blue is easy on the eyes but the sound this thing puts out puts every amp I've heard in person to shame. Well done Fender.

It definitely has the vintage Fender cleans but the best part of this amp is how it feels while you play. It is very touch sensitive and lots of harmonics. For lack of a better way to say it, it is a very forgiving amp. Feels like fast runs come out cleaner and easier than on other amps I’ve owned. Why? I don’t know but if it weren’t true I wouldn’t be sitting here typing this right now. I gig a lot and buy a lot of gear, some more expensive than this...for me to leave a review is rare so take that for what it’s worth. The cream back speaker sounds great and I feel no need to replace it whatsoever. It was a good choice for this amp. Is it worth the money? It’s worth it, you’ll love it. By the way the electric blue is really something different and looks beautiful with the silver face...IMO
