I will never sell it. American Fender Basses keep their value better than most.
Sound
Quiet and punchy. No hum whatsoever.
Features
Great case and goodies inside. Strap, cable, tools(even a bumper sticker)
Ease of Use
Great sound always comes easy from an American Fender product.(Do I even have to say that?)
Quality
It's a USA Fender. Among the best there is.
Value
I have owned $3,000.00 basses that didn't sound this good.
Manufacturer Support
N/A. Never had a problem with a Fender product.
The Wow Factor
I bought it. Charcoal frost metallic with maple. Beautiful!

"Best fender bass since the 70's"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
When fender announced that they had redesigned the American series, I was unimpressed at first. I had played a few earlier American basses, and I thought how different could this one be. All I can say is that those little changes made a huge difference. The new high-mass bridge is the best thing fender has done in years. The neck finish is amazing, and the gloss maple fingerboard just lights up on stage. I honestly can't find any fault about this product, and I'm usually such a cynic about instruments!
Sound
The sound is simply spectacular. Everything you could want out of a jazz bass. You can get a cool mellow sound out of the neck pickup, or a growl out of the bridge pickup. Easily the best sounding passive bass I have ever played. It just cuts through the mix. And the new bridge gives it a punch and clarity that did not exist in its predecessor.
Features
The best part about this bass for me is its simplicity. There are no active electronics or peripheral features; just an untampered jazz bass sound. But you can still get a huge range of sound out of this product.
Ease of Use
This bass plays itself. The neck is so fast and smooth, the feel is just right. A beginner could get an amazing sound out of this bass. It's one of the fastest necks I've ever played.
Quality
Its an American made fender, of course the quality is amazing. I replaced the white pick-guard with a black one (I own a black maple model) and all the screw holes lined up perfectly. The set up was absolutely flawless; i didn't need to tweak a thing. There hasn't been a single problem with this axe.
Value
I've tried other more expensive basses, and this is far superior to any of them. I would have to say that the value is amazing, and even if I had twice as much money to spend I would still go for this bass. I prefer it to the deluxe models.
Manufacturer Support
There haven't been any problems with the bass, so I haven't had to deal with fender. They were really fast to deliver though. I got this axe a week after I ordered it, and it had only been available for purchase for a day.
The Wow Factor
The model I have is black with a maple fingerboard. When it had its original white pickguard, it looked pretty normal. But when I put the black pickguard on it looked so sexy. Fenders may have simple aesthetics, but they're still beautiful axes.

It's an American made Fender Jazz, after all. You expect it to have passive pickups. You expect it to be heavy. You expect it to play great and sound great. You expect it to look perfect out of the box. Definitely meets expectations.

"Great Bass but had a couple issues."

Had 2 problems with the bass. First, it had a defective nut. Second, the electronics where not connected. Good thing is it was covered by the factory warranty. I believe this was a rare case but it happened. Possibly was the last bass on the production line that day and Fender was ready to get off work! There is no excuse for that. $1,200 American made bass shouldn't have these quality control issues. I believe Fenders slipping these days. Hope your experience is better. Now that it is repaired it is an awesome bass. Love Jazz basses!
