Fender Kingman SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar

The Fender Kingman SCE offers great tone and vintage flair. With a Solid Spruce top and Fishman electronics, the Fender Kingman SCE is a fine choice.

First off, freely shipped and delivered in about 2 days... Fantastic. The guitar sounds great; the tonal range more than met my expectations- natural woody sound, both bassy and high end sparkle. The action and intonation were better than any other guitar I've ever ordered straight out of the box, the fit and finish is excellent (binding/neck joint/nut/saddle/wood grain/lacquer) and the Fishman pickup does this guitar real justice. Built in tuner does what it's supposed to do, and plugged in there is absolutely no noise or buzz. If only it came with a case! Very impressed. This is the first Chinese made guitar that lives up to American-made standards. And its looks gangster. Hats off to Fender and to zZounds on a great product.

Ordered on Wednesday before 2pm and it arrived on Saturday! I had a 68 Kingman natural back in the day and just loved the feel of it. This new incarnation does not disappoint. Better in some ways. Louder, and better tone since there is no "torsion bar" in the body which was required due to the removable neck (on the 60's model.) Pretty good setup out of the box. Once it settles in to the environment, I'll check it again. Much more affordable than some American made instruments that you wouldn't dare take to a gig. If you only play at home, or you are a studio musician, you can do better. But for the gigging musician, this is hard to beat. Great sound and affordability. And, there is ZZounds pay-to-play if you are strapped for cash.
Sound
As I said, loud. And a very full tone. Plugged in with the Fishman electronics, it's awesome. I don't have an "acoustic" amp, but all my amps are tube so they are much more flexible than the solid state amps. A marriage made in Heaven.
Features
I'm primarily an electric player and I love having all the tuning keys on one side of the headstock. The integrated tuner is a big plus and will mute the output when engaged. Solid back and front. Would love solid sides but that would increase price for sure.
Ease of Use
Just play it and the great sounds are there. Easy to use with dedicated acoustic amps, tube amps and sound board. There is no learning curve if you know how to play guitar. It is very playable right out of the box. Comes with Fishman directions and a wrench for the truss rod.
Quality
Very well put together. Finish is to die for. All joints are solid. Easy to change the battery in the Fishman preamp. Take note of battery polarity when changing batteries. Fishman does not make the polarity easy to see. This is not a fault of Fender, it's a Fishman preamp and they should know better.
Value
Best in it's class. You can get better if you want to spend more money. For a product made in China, I'm very impressed. If it were stolen, I would get another soon. Can;t say that for Martin or Gibson where you need to take out a mortgage to purchase. This is a awesome and affordable guitar for gigging.
Manufacturer Support
I have dealt with Fender before and find them very easy to work with. Treat them like fellow humans and they will treat you well.
The Wow Factor
It's just got that cool thing going on. Again, it's a throwback to my old 60's Kingman, I love the inline tuners, the dreadnaught body.
