"Great System"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I was in need of a system for performances of crowds of 300 people or less. Being a keyboardist I needed a system that provided true quality sounds ranging from instruments of low bass to high flutes and all the sounds between. The Passport 500 surprisingly cranks out some quality sounds for a portable system. The fact that you can record directly to a usb thumb drive is a great add on. Passport also enables you to play along with music downloads on the inserted usb drive. The passport 500 is ideal for keyboard players, providing a broader variety of sound quality than any , keboard amp with twice as many inputs and true stereo all bundle in a small package.

I purchased this system for music ministry and I thank God it has turned out to be all that I need. Many inputs allow for the use of agood amount of vocals and instruments. USB input allows you not only to sing sing along with tracks but more importantly allows you to record on to a flash drive what you play and with amazing clarity on the playback. One of the biggest selling points for me was the way it packs up and goes. Not that heavy to move around. It is simple to use and I love the many features it offers.

"NOT an upgrade from the PD-500"

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

Sound
I bought this as an upgrade to the previous PD 500. The sound is no where as impressive. The decibel output seems to be about 1/2 of the previous model. at 75% volume, the speakers crack. This was never some thing I experienced before. This is far from an improvement on the previous model. I'm returning mine
Features
Tthe accessories are lacking compared to the previous model. There are no microphones (the PD 500 came with two) and no Speak-on cable connections. The back compartment does not close as well, there is no balance control, and the speaker cables it comes with are short and cheap.
Ease of Use
It's easy to use - but the controls are no as impressive as the previous PD-500. The USB input is cool, but this will not work with an iPod. It'll only work with a flash drive.
Quality
not impressed. The back compartment will not close tight. The speakers sound terrible at higher volume

I needed something that would work in a large room for Pro band rehearsal. When it arrived I was concerned at it's small size. When I turned it on it was amazing. Not only did we all hear no matter where we were in the room size over 1000 Sq Ft., we still had plenty of head room in the system to turn it up. The system's built in reverb was perfect.
