i just received this bass a few days ago and i'm so happy i got it. i saw this bad boy at guitar center after having my heart set on an american standard jazz bass. picked it up and plugged it in. i was amazed by it's sound and features. i already see scratches on the pickguard and pickups which would be a downside to others but not for me. the sound is what should matter. i plugged this bass into my sansamp rbi which is connected to my carvin bx500 and it sounds CHUNKY. i am so happy i saw this bass before spending a fortune on an american made.

I am on my 4th Fender Modern Telecaster Bass (bills, bills, bills), and I cannot tell you how GLAD I am that they are still on the market, widely available and fairly inexpensive! Are they Chinese-made? Yes, but SO FREAKIN' WHAT?! These basses ROCK. Period. They are solidly constructed, beautifully finished and sound fantastic. My only MINOR complaint is that the poles on the bridge pickup don't line up with the strings. Again this is a minor issue that is easily remedied by a simple adjustment of the pickup poles. With both pickups turned up, the sound is hot, fat and articulate. Want more of a dark, thumpy tone? Turn the bridge pickup down and let the neck pickup amaze you. Want FAT midrange? Turn down the neck pickup and let the bridge humbucker break through the mix. When I buy a new bass, I usually replace the stock roundwounds with a set of nice flats. With this bass, there is no need. Everything comes through with such definition and power that there's not much tweaking to be done at all with these, other than a quick neck and bridge adjustment to taste. BUY THIS BASS! You'll be glad you did.

Watched a lot of reviews about this bass. Lived the look since I play in a 50's/60's cover band. Received and unboxed it. Beautiful, had to set it up to my specs and put flat wounds on it, but it is absolutely a great bass. The tone is unbelievable, actually better than what I expected. This is now a bass that will be played in shows. Just wish the headstock had telecaster bass on it. The group in china did a great job, American Fender makers better step up their game!
