Top of the line. To get any better you will have to go to the custom shop. You can get the traditional tone of a Jazz bass and some new thunderous tones easily shaped -from fat low end to crisp high end. Setup consisted of tuning the bass - I can't say enough good things about the neck. I have always preferred the older, thicker necks, this one is a nice balance - and the flatter back makes it very easy to play. The new upper design give you easy access to the complete fret board. After I ordered the bass, I saw the color was really 'black' but the new Texas Tea finish - I was concerned by the descriptions, but I love the finish, very subtle hints of green/brown - but mainly you get 'none more black' for the color. Can't put it down! A home run!*disregard my Manufacturer Support rating as I have not used it, so I can't really say one way or the other.

Wow, this is an amazing piece of craftsmanship. What a beautiful example if a Fender Jazz bass. The sound on this thing is pure Jazz bass. It has an 18v onboard preamp that can get you a ton of different sounds. It also has a passive mode that also sounds fantastic. The quality of this product is very high. You can tell just by picking it up and playing a few notes. The neck is pure heaven. It is very fast and smooth with rounded and comfortable frets. The block inlays are perfect and beautiful. The Texas Tea finish is so incredible, you have to see it for yourself to really appreciate it.I would sell three of my professional basses for one of these. If you are one of the lucky ones who can get one of these jems, then do it. "Love it more than my Elite"

I thought the Elite I bought from here was the sh*t, now the Ultra is my go to bass, it nails that Old School sound, but with a slight modern vibe. The sound and tone is amazing, the playability is amazing, you cannot go wrong with this bass, it feels great. It’s a little heavier than the Elite I got from here, but it’s no big deal.I still love the Elite, but I love this one even more!

"Thorough Disappointment and Frustration, Bridge Pickup Shot"

Overall: 1 out of 5 stars

Picked one of these up brand new and was ECSTATIC the way it played at first. Unfortunately after a VERY short time the bridge pickup stopped working which was literally the reason I picked one up, to emulate the Jaco sound. Ive since had a hell of a time to get Fender to work with me and can't seem to get them to honor their warranty. Not covered under zZounds warranty and Fender just keeps bouncing me to different "Authorized Repair Outlets" with no results. DO NOT BUY FENDER.
