Fender American Performer Jazz Bass Electric Bass Guitar, Rosewood Fingerboard (with Gig Bag)

A powerhouse model for nearly 60 years, the Jazz Bass fits right in with the American Performer series. Dual Yosemite single-coils create that classic growl.

I had been in the market for a new Jazz bass for some time now, and after watching some youtube reviews, I ordered an arctic white Performer Jazz, and crossed my fingers that the bass would at least meet my expectations. The bass arrived in perfect condition, well packed by Fender and zZounds. After a quick setup, I plugged in and played for an hour straight. This bass exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Fit and finish was perfect, tight neck pocket, no issues with frets and everything worked as it should. The tone is outstanding: Jazz bass with a touch more punch. I'm still getting used to the Greasebucket tone control, but I understand why there's a love/hate relationship with it. It cuts out some highs but doesn't muffle the low end. I gigged this bass a couple of days after it arrived, and had no problems dialing in a tone that sat well in the mix. If there is any downside, it's the fact that these come with a gig bag and not a hard shell case, and it's the same cheap gig bag that some of my older Mexican made Fenders came with. I'm a big proponent of hard shell cases (or higher quality gig bags) being included with new guitars and basses, and really don't understand why Fender can't include something that offers a bit more protection. Anyways, other than the gig bag issue, I think these Performer Jazz basses are awesome.
