First off, I want to say that I’m a big Van Halen fan and Eddie is a huge influence on me. The Shark is my favorite guitar he ever played and when they made one I had to get it. The guitar is beautiful made even tho is was crafted in Korea, and some are skeptical or even picky about where their stuff comes from, that didn’t matter to me. It has an amazing matte finish, burgundy w/silver stripes paint job that resembles the original in every way. Everything is like the original, the turn buckles, the chrome/gold tuners, the custom EVH humbuckers that capture Ed’s sound, the neck profile, and the neck is one piece into the guitar instead of bolt on. It feels, sounds and plays great. But..there are 3 things I must mention. I’m giving it 4 1/2 stars because of #1. 1. The box was partially damaged and open when it was delivered. Nothing was wrong with the guitar but that could’ve been serious due to lack of proper shipping care. 2. I noticed that there’s only one volume nob for both pick ups, so you can’t imitate the classic kill switch sound Eddie produced at the end of the “You Really Got Me” guitar solo. There ways to play that part without the kill switch sound, but it would be nice to be able to have individual volume knobs for each humbucker. You can always modify the guitar if it concerns you. It doesn’t bother me that much. 3. The headstock is not exactly like the original, and that was one of my biggest issues with this guitar, but seeing it in person has grown on me and it looks good. Overall, this guitar is great. It will definitely catch people’s attention and is a must have for guitarist who love Eddie Van Halen. And as always, zZounds has been excellent in the past with shipping and all their products I’ve purchased. This time isn’t going to stop me from doing business in the future.
