Was a little skeptical when i ordered this guitar.Im a guild 12 string owner/player/ collector. i had listened to a number of player reviews and sound examples. But didnt have one close by to play.Plus ,i had heard zZounds were rather iffy as far as shipping, cust. service, .. Well, i love this 12 string, a bit warmer tone than my guilds.reminds me of 60,s 70,s fm radio tunes.lol. And zZounds was incredibly professional ,shipping, ,in purchasing, and answering any questions i had.The epiphone IBG hummingbird is a very surprising, and remarkable 12 string . Better than you would expect for 900.00. Its in line with my guilds costing 1000.00 or more than this guitar. Great guitar. been playing ,buying guitars for 49 years. Even being an import this is a very very fine guitar.

Man, this thing slays Guild’s offerings in this price range and higher. This is my first 12 string guitar, and I probably won’t need another 12 string, as I picked the best bang for the buck, and highest quality the first time after looking at other brands like Yamaha and Guild. So, what makes this guitar so special? Well, for starters it is an all solid wood guitar. It’s not made of laminates like the majority of other 12 string guitars, even many costing quite a bit more. The tuning machines are high Quality Grover’s, unlike the Guild branded tuners that fall apart, or the unbranded ones on many of the Yamahas. This guitar is solidly built. You can keep it tuned to concert pitch without having to detune and use a capo. The guitar I received had a perfectly cut nut and the action and intonation were perfect right out of the box. It’s quite loud acoustically with great resonance. The electronics are great. You will have to desiring the guitar to change the battery, but I will just do it when I change the strings a couple times a year. No big deal. The fret work was fantastic from the factory. No uneven frets or pokey fret ends. All frets were nicely smooth/polished from the factory. The only work I had to do to this guitar was to change the strings, put a battery in it, and tweak the truss rod. This guitar comes with a clever sound hole humidifier.I would also recommend the Epiphone case that is made for this guitar.

I loved the Epiphone Hummingbird 12 string.I lived its beauty and the quality if it’s sound. The photo doesn’t do it justice. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the battery access is on the inside of the guitar! So you have to loosen almost all of the strings to reach inside and grab the little 9 volt battery pouch to replace the battery. I understand that the Gibson guitars have the same system and they are very expensive. I unfortunately think that this kind of system is unacceptable. Especially on a 12 string! If you have a luthier in your area, you can purchase a battery compartment and have it installed. If uou do thys, you will have an awesome guitar! Any of the IBG Epiphones are such high quality for such a low price, they are still well worth the extra $200 to have the compartment installed and the guitar set up!

The dealbreaker for me is that Epiphone overlooked something that is very important to me. To change out the battery for the pickup is a real pain in the a**. You literally have to de-string the guitar to get at it to change it out. And that's when the deal went South for me. My suggestion? Buy a Guild 12 string acoustic/electric guitar and be happy for the rest of your life.
