Cons out of the way first: The nut was not properly filed so the bass end, so I had to file it down. The box was also partly opened with the guitar hanging out into the shipping box but nothing was damaged so no harm no foul. The great: These pickups are very hot. If you are looking for a hot roded rock or metal guitar this is your answer. The push pull is fantastic, the vintage humbucker sound through my marshall gave an incredible 80s Iron Maiden tone. The pickups are brushed nickle which compliment the aged finished look. The custom inlays are a special extra touch on top of everything. I also bought strings with intent to replace the ones on it out of the box but the ones it came equipped with were actually of high quality and are still on it to this day. I highly recommend the case for it to keep it safe because you will want to take this everywhere.Zzounds is also an incredible retailer. Their support is open very late and answered all of my questions. Shipping was incredibly fast. 10/10

Let me get the bad out of the way.The locking tuner caps, are made of plastic. The battery door is plastic as expected but doesn't seem too close terribly well and I'm not sure how that will age.Now the good (great actually) stuff...It's virtually impossible to find more value in a guitar. The fishman fluence proprietary pickups are absolutely AWESOME!Some people compare the number two setting on the push pull as a P.A.F.To me it sounds a little more like 490's. But once you add gain...The modern tone is phenomenal. Extremely rich harmonics. Full tone with no muddiness whatsoever. The guitar is balanced fairly well. One minor complaint is the fret work. VERY MINOR! Nice rolled edges seems to be very flat. However, they weren't polished very well. That will take care of itself in about 2 weeks of solid playing. Reaching the 24th fret can be a little tough even with a great scarf joint. But I don't grab the 24th fret all that often anyway. Few do.Bottom line:If you put this in my hand and I didn't see the headstocked I would assume it was a Gibson. this is the best playing Epiphone I have ever picked up in my life! And I have picked up a lot of Epiphones. Listen, I know that statement has been made at nauseam but I own 2 Custom Shop Les Paul's. I know what a Gibson feels like. Epiphone absolutely killed it on this model

It's talk to find a place to start with this guitar. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but what I can say is this guitar is amazing. Don't panic if this guitar doesn't play right away. Just switch out the 9-volt. The great news about this guitar is it is all mahogany. You're not going to break it. It resonates really well. If you like emgs you will love these fishmen fluence pickups. Though this guitar is heavy, it compensates with high quality. Bottom line: you will not find a finer guitar for the money. I'm very pleased with mine. I'm a guitar snob believe me. You can play the blues or shred.I would recommend this guitar to intermediate players. Maybe not so much for beginners. Kudos to zZounds for making it possible to own such a fine instrument. You won't do any better for the money

I had my doubts when I was thinking about buying this guitar, but let me tell you, Epiphone has really upped their game. This guitar is just incredible all the way around. From the locking tuners to the Fishman pickups, this baby is just awesome. She plays in a way that is almost effortless. As a metal guitarist, she sounds better than my Gibson, my Hagstrom, and my other Epiphone combined. So if your thinking about buying, dont hesitate, you will NOT be disappointed!!!Corey Trader, Lead Guitarist for 13 Pagan Holiday 13

"Nut has the strings out too close to the edges"

Really nice looking and sounding guitar. But the low E string and the high E string fret out too easy. I thought it was a glitch in my technique at first, even though that’s never been an issue before, but it’s the guitar. The low E especially. Unless you constantly remind yourself to be careful, you will absolutely push the low E off the fretboard when fretting any chord that has that string in it. I might be returning it if getting it modified is too much of a hassle.
