"This guitar is cooler than I am or can ever hope to be."

Overall I am very happy with this guitar. Best bang for the buck I've had in a guitar.
Sound
This guitar has a good mean sound to it that lends itself to punk/metal/heavier music.
Features
One tone knob. One volume knob. Three-way pickup selector switch. I'm quite happy with the simplicity of it.
Ease of Use
As I mentioned before, there's not a lot to configure. I'm not looking to get a bunch of different sounds of this guitar, so easy does it.
I'd give it a 9 or 10 if the neck/headstock weren't so heavy. The guitar tends to dip a bit. A good strap with a bit of grip will keep in check though.
Quality
It seems very well made. I expect to keep this guitar in my arsenal for a long time.
Value
This guitar is a great value and easily compares to $1000+ instruments. I picked it up used at a steal of $400. I would consider buying it new again if I had to.
Manufacturer Support
No support needed so far.
The Wow Factor
This guitar looks cool too. The tribal fret markers are nice. The quilted maple is sweet. Even the knobs are kinda cool.

"Epiphone hit one out of the park with the Prophecy SG EX"
Over all an amazing guitar. You wont regret buying this.
Sound
I have been playing for 22 years and have played some pretty impressive guitars. This thing is among the best. The sound is awsome, both clean and dirty, but it obviously caters to the metal heads with its EMGs. I run this through a Peavey VYPYR and its unreal. The only thing i found was that, as with all SGs, its neck heavy. once you get used to playing an SG, you'll never look back. On a side note, i read the last review and would advise the guy to learn how to adjust the action on a guitar if he's not happy with it "stock"
Features
great features, but as stated before it is like all SGs, neck heavy.
Ease of Use
wonderful sounds and a a VERY fast neck. Amazingly playable.
Quality
a small defect in the finish near the knobs on mine but otherwise, BEAUTIFULL!! almost feel bad playing it cause you get finger prints on it.
Value
this guitar should be priced way higher for what your getting. Ive played guitars worth 3 times this and they had nothing on the prophecy sg ex
Manufacturer Support
I put a 5 here because I dont know, havent had a problem
The Wow Factor
this guitar is one sexy beast, check one out in person as pictures cant do it justice.

"NICE guitar."
Everyone has already covered the basics on specs and whatnot, just wanted to chime in now that the "honeymoon" phase is over and say what a GREAT piece these things are. Not sure if the top is solid quilt maple, though I suspect it's a veneer. either way it LOOKS stunning, and the sound matches thanks to the EMGs. If this had the Gibson name on it, you'd be paying $1500 for it, easily, but like many other Epi axes over the last decade, Nashville doesnt' even OFFER production models like this one...... The Epiphone of TODAY is NOT merely the "budget division" it was in the late 80's and early 90's. They make some fine products in their own right, unique to the brand line.
The first review down there that goes on about the string height....well, I suspect that's got more to do with sour grapes because that reviewer thinks they got a "not new" guitar shipped to them than with the actual instrument itself, or MAYBE they got a lemon, because there's always a few of those in any mass production run......all I know is that any monkey with a screwdriver, an allen key, and some patience can take care of the action issue. Mine's currently STUPIDLY low, and no buzz :) The ONLY thing I can say semi-negative about it is that the neck is THIN.....to the point that you can easily bend notes out of pitch if you get too heavy handed on the back of the neck. don't think it's a problem with the guitar so much as it is ME being used to a heftier neck (my main guitars for YEARS have been an 88 Explorer, and an Epi LP7...big, BEEFY necks). a little technique adjustment on my part will solve the issue. Some places are still selling these new....but if you run into a used one, scoop it up....

"Nice puick ups, shame about the frets."
Verified Purchaser

I returned it.
Sound
The EMG pick-ups sound great, but the fretboard finishing is awful. Very uncomfortable to play.
Ease of Use
Sounds nice, but that's the pick ups.
Quality
Really the only good aspect of this guitar is the pick ups.
The finishing of the fretboard, however, leaves a lot to be desired.
The action by the guitar's body had to be at least half an inch away!
Also, I bought this 'new', it was not, and have since returned it.
Value
This guitar should be a lot less money than what is asked.

"Sounds as MEAN as it looks."

I had 4 guitars. This is my 5th. I love it. I can't believe it's an Epiphone. It plays very well. The neck is really comfortable for me. The Grovers and quality bridge keep this baby in tune. I'm a rocker, so the EMG's are awesome. I play through a Blackstar head with a Marshall cab. This guitar screams. Pinch harmonics that will make your ears bleed. The pots and knobs are quality. Strap locks are a nice bonus. The finish is very nice. The black hardware on the mean black paint job makes this axe look sleek and brutal. But it's an Epiphone. I can't believe that it is. Granted, it's no Gibson, but this one comes as close as it gets so far. If you're not hung up on brand names and you don't have 2,000.00 for a Gibson, try this baby. I'm sure you'll be as surprised as I was.
Sound
Sounds GREAT. The EMG pick ups make this thing scream.
Features
Let's start at the top. Grover tuners. Great playable neck. EMG active pick ups. Nice bridge and tailpiece. Lastly, strap locks. They didn't skimp on this one.
Ease of Use
Easy to play right out of the box.
Quality
Well made with quality parts.
Value
Great value. Could NEVER buy a Gibson SG for this price.
The Wow Factor
I love the finish. It looks as mean as it sounds. The black hardware really sets it off. The only thing that wasn't so great was the word Epiphone on the headstock. that changed once I played it.
