Will keep it forever,Will only supplement it with a gibson les paul standard or studio when I get the money.
Sound
The sound is Gibson all the way. They have taken a epiphone sg400 and should have put gibson on it.The sound is crisp but also has the gibson crunch and wait until you use the coil tapping it will blow your mind.Grant it I'm not a professional by a yard stick long but I know when I hear that gibson sound and feel.I'm 57yrs old and still remember when i was 18 and picked up an original gibson 56 gold top with the p-90's a friend bought.
Features
It might say B-Stock but you could fool me.It came in the orional box with all the paper work and a hand signed inspection sheet and even had the toggle switch for the picups protected with strafoam.Even came with a factory cord(Good for just tuning).
Ease of Use
Like I said before the sound says Gibson all the way and you can combind any sound you want.
Quality
I will have to say perfect in every way.
Value
Very much worth the price if i had to replace it I would be happy to pay this price again.
Manufacturer Support
Never had to deal with them but when I registered this online with epiphone it put me through to Gibson and getting my warrenty was a breeze so I will give it a 10 for how easy it was.
The Wow Factor
If my ex-wife was this sexy and talked with a voice as sweet as this sounds I would still be married.

"One of the best SG's out there"
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This is the best guitar in general and Epiphone in particular that I've owned in a few years. If lost or stolen I would buy this guitar again or get an Iommi SG, which is what I intended to get but found this at a fraction of the cost.
Sound
Sounds great. Better than most other Epiphones and similar to the Tony Iommi G400 but with more output.
Features
Has coil tap to select the single coil option and plus it has Grover tuners which help it stay in tune longer and better
Ease of Use
Very easy to use.
Quality
No quality control issues here, just straight up quality.
Value
I think I'll keep this guitar for the longest and not sell it. If I want another guitar I'll just add to my collection and not get rid of it. It is the best guitar I have ever owned since I have been playing guitars, which has been since 2005.
Manufacturer Support
Never had to deal with them on any of the Epiphone products I've owned in the past or present
The Wow Factor
Has good sex appeal. The color and finish stands out against any other guitar.

"Alot of guitar for the money, I mean it so many frets I wish I had more fingers!!"

I usually keep my guitars forever, I'll keep this one too. Don't plan on taking this out right away play it for awhile, after about 2 hours of playing I was just begining to feel comfortable, but I was well aware of this before purchasing.
Sound
It needs a little tweaking of the action I raised it just a tiny bit and tweaked the harmonics a bit. Now it is a 9.
Features
It came with the locking strap parts they fit, but I have not used them yet, the cable it came with is junk, but I didn't buy a cord I bought a guitar.
Ease of Use
There is SO MUCH neck, you need to position your fingers a bit to get crisp sound on the upper frets, really just back to the basice play real close to the fret.
Quality
Mine was nearly perfect right out of the box. Great finish
Value
If you are a player YES not for collectors
Manufacturer Support
I have 2 epiphones never had to use support
The Wow Factor
It is not practical as your only guitar, it makes a great addition mostly for lead.

"From Chuck Berry To Lamb Of God And Everywhere In Between!"

It seems that after years of living in the shadow of their parent company, making less expensive replicas of their "classic" designs Epiphone has marked out it's own course in a bold way. This guitar lays to rest any doubts I may have ever had about Epi. A beautiful guitar that sounds awesome and lets me get to my musical place and at an unbelievable price. You owe it to yourself to try one today.
Sound
Very versatile guitar! The Gibson USA Dirty Fingers pickups are the highest output p/u's that Gibson makes. They're even higher output than the active EMG 81/85 set that Epiphone puts in their other Prophecy guitars (like my Prophecy LP EX!). They're also passive, which means you get a wider harmonic range than you do with actives. The midrange is less focused on these, but the higher output ensures that you get a really rich sound in high gain situations. You can get a really HEAVY sound out of these. They're just not as "scooped" as the EMG's would be on the same amp settings. EMG's scream and howl, Dirty Fingers snarl and growl...if that makes any sense.
They also do well for Rock and even Blues, but you definitely have to roll the volume back a bit to take off some of the hair these puppies have.
When they're coil tapped into single coil mode (by pulling UP on the volume pot) you get a pretty fair emulation of a Fender type of sound. Not really Strat-ish and not really Tele-ish but somewhere in between. It seems the output of these P/U's are closer to a Tele bridge P/U than a Strat neck P/U so you may need to attenuate the volume somewhat to get the sound you want.
Features
Similar to all Epi Prophecy guitars with 24 fret speed taper neck with blade inlays and full binding, graphite nut, Grover tuners and Epi designed strap locks, hand stained quilted maple top and pearloid inlays on the volume and tone pots. This one has coil tappable Gibson USA Dirty Fingers pickups that kick like a mule! Single volume and tone pots which for some illogical reason seems to upset a few people (c'mon! Be honest...how many guitarists actually take the time to twiddle all four pots anyway. Usually it's just dime everything and go). Gold hardware and an ebony fretboard complete the aesthetics. Epiphone took a body style that is approaching it's fiftieth year in production(!) and made it look ominously futuristic.
Ease of Use
When I first plugged this into my amp and hit a chord it was "WHOA!". It really hit the front of my amp HARD! That was my first clue that these weren't "vintage" style pickups. So after tweaking the EQ and gain on my amp I very shortly had a Lamb of God type sound. Switching to the clean channel I played around with the coil tap and was playin' da blues in no time. The guitar is very response to volume settings. Of course depending on your rig and setup your mileage may vary.
Quality
Made in China? So what! This guitar exudes quality from end to end. It's not hand made in Nashville like it's Gibson cousins. All components are top notch. It's made in Epiphone's new state-of-the-art facility in China with the most modern equipment and production methods available. Unlike in years past this gives Epiphone total control over all quality issues. It's made on computer controlled machinery with a high class polyurethane finish (not the more expensive lacquer, like Gibson). You'd be surprised how many very expensive high end guitars are made this way now, including a very famous USA maker who I won't name, but whose initials are PRS :)
Value
Based on my experience I'd say that the Epiphone Prophecy range of guitars is one of the best values out there right now. If you just looked only at the specs on these instruments you'd probably think that they'd sell for at least twice as much. The components and quality are first rate.
Manufacturer Support
I've emailed Epiphone/Gibson several times with questions about case compatiblity, availabilty of accessories, etc and they've always responded within 24 hours. I have no worries about support.
The Wow Factor
There's something to be said about the iconic shape of the SG (and for that matter the Les Paul). After a half century plus they're still going strong. Having said that I would say that they're more perceived as a "vintage" vibe. Well the designers at Epiphone took that perception and blew holes in it with a 150mm cannon! This SG just looks soooo sinister with it's dark cherry finish and headstock and fretboard inlays. Now, I'm not much for gold hardware. It always seemed too much of an affectation to me, like "trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear". But the gold on this guitar really does a nice job of enhancing it's appearance.

"Amazing value, great craftmanship, stunning looks with the great sound to match."
I'm hoping they'll stop making this guitar soon so mine will become a collectors. Gonna hang on to this one for quite some time.
Sound
The dirty fingers are nice and hot, lots of chug to the low end and a nice clear high end. Each note really cuts through the distortion even with weird chords that can get muddy on cheaper pickups
Features
The included Gold straplocks are a nice touch, allen wrench and a cable. There was a handwritten inspection card which is nice, at least they actually look to make sure it wasn't a total mess out of the factory.
Ease of Use
tune-o-matics are as easy as they get. Pretty well setup out of the box which surprised me.
Quality
Its really a beautiful piece of wood, really well made and the flame top is even more detailed in person than it looks in the pictures. The colors are really bright, and I thought the gold hardware made it look a little too glam rock, but it really doesn't. Nice solid built guitar with the sex appeal to match. Epiphone's Custom shop is the most underrated guitar maker.
Value
It's a great example of how you don't have to pay $1,600 for a great guitar. Kudos to epiphone for keeping the price as low as it is. I used to have an SG special from Gibson that was nowhere near the guitar this one is. Might as well buy 2 or 3 for the same price as one Gibson.
Manufacturer Support
All the warranty info comes with it, limited lifetime replacement.
The Wow Factor
Been looking forward to this guitar since the NAMM show and they finally came in after 7 months and I am not dissapointed at all.
