Like others I have been through a lot of guitars. This Epiphone is really beautiful to look at and yes the finish has an orange burst to it. It came straight out of the box in tune- one string slight off. I’ve never had that happen. Feels great in your hands and feels well made. Sounds great and would recommend it wholeheartedly.
Sound
Sounds wonderful. Might try different strings later on.

I have one of these that I purchased as a back up acoustic guitar. When I first played it, I fell in love with it. It has tone in spades and it plays like a dream. This is one of the few guitars I can honestly say costs way less than it should. If you are looking for a great acoustic-electric guitar, look no further. This guitar will serve you faithfully for many, many years and will not disappoint you.

"Purchased as gift A Dove"

I actually purchased this as a gift for a girl i'm teaching basic cords. She always wanted the Dove because if the birds on the pock guard. She doesn't know it's a gift for her. It arrived and packing was better at the head stock. Also the inner box seemed more rigid. I took it out and only ad to touch up the tuning. I was amazed how well the guitar sounds. I ave the acoustic-electric Seagull and I now this Dove sounds louder and the cords I finger picked really sound fantastic compared to the Seagull Action is 100% perfect and no string buzz. The finish is just great and. People ask me why I have 14 guitars:-) Well, when you hear a nice looking guitar like the Dove or Hummingbird, then look at the price,it's just hard to turn down. So it you don't want to drop some big cash on a guitar that won't sound any better, don't hesitate getting one of these. I know I mentioned the Dove and Hummingbird but they are just about twins

I received my Dove and hardshell case yesterday and I'm impressed with quality , especially the setup was great, action was low and intonation is spot on....I've been playing since 1973 tho mostly as a bass player, last band I was with for 21 years. zZounds Play as you Pay is the way to go used it many times. I'm retired now so I bought this Dove to just pass the time away and I have authotitus in both hands and thinking I can limber them up as well , time will tell. The hardshell case is top notch also for the money.

"A Steal at $299!"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
The Fishman system alone is worth $150. Add to that a solid spruce top, rosewood bridge, Grover gears, and the vintage Dove style, and I'm seriously wondering how they can sell this for $299. The guitar is well built. Nothing about it feels cheap when you handle it. Epiphone doesn't appear to have cut any corners. The sound is big, but not to bright or too cavernous. Finger picking, lead, and rhythm all sound good on this guitar. I will note that out of the box it was a little hard for me to play. The action was higher than I like and the neck wasn't adjusted properly. But I expected this for a guitar in this price range. I knew I had a quality instrument made of quality components that just needed a quality setup. Sure enough, I paid the luthier $80 and got the nut, neck and bridge setup just the way I like. Now I've got a guitar I spent $380 bucks on and it plays like a $1000 guitar.

This Epi Dove Pro is more than I imagined. Besides being the prettiest guitar that I now own, It sounds as sweet as any. Maybe a little lighter tone than the Hummingbird (probably the maple body), but I put some new strings on for the way I like to play (Martin M1400), and I love it. When I'm not playing it, I am staring at it, and I am in Love. My wife is jealous.

This guitar is a keeper. Having owed and played several name brand guitars, this Epiphone Dove Pro, for the price, is a fantastic value. Out of the box she played like a dream, clear, bright, and robust. The workmanship on this guitar looks great. Could not see or feel any issues. Thank you zZounds and Epiphone.

I am new to the guitar and also new to zZounds! Now with being said, I couldn't believe that there was a place that would let you have a guitar without paying for it in full! So this is great!! Thank you zZounds for making my dream of playing guitar an affordable reality! The Dove pro was a great choice for me to get started!!
Sound
When I received the guitar , I was happy with the way it looked, I got it all tuned up and it sounded good! But I knew that it could be better, so I took it in to a good luthier and he said that it needed to be set up . He adjusted the neck, and had file some frets and the saddle , restrung it with elixir strings. Now the thing plays beautiful and sounds awesome! You would think that it was way more expensive than it was! The action is now smooth and fast! Loving it!!!!
Features
I feel (with out having very much experience with guitars) that the Grover tuners are of high quality. The craftsman of the entire guitar is great, with the exception that the manufacture could have set it up better, ie. the frets being too high and the hight of the saddle and the way the neck was adjusted, better sounding strings would have been a plus!
Ease of Use
From the factory it wasn't set up very well, but after that was done it's great and sounds great!
Quality
I think that it is made very well , it cosmetically looks and now plays flawless!! The fishman electronics sound awesome!
Value
Absolutely worth the money!
Manufacturer Support
I have not dealt with epiphone personally .
The Wow Factor
The wow factor for me was high! Love this guitar!

Excellent guitar for the money. You just can not beat the price on this guitar. The quality is of such standard you would expect to see on a guitar costing thousands. I bought this guitar based on previous reviews as well. And I can say I'm not disappointed. This guitar is being used mainly for recording purposes. It has a big bright sound that casts well across all octaves. The sustain on every note of this guitar including the high notes is truly exceptional for an acoustic guitar. The setup from the factory was great. No issues whatsoever. Another great purchase through zZounds. Extremely fast shipping as always and great customer service.

When I buy a guitar, I'm hard to impress they have to be just right but when I unpacked the Dove and gave the fret board a treatment with guitar honey I was pleasantly surprised with the tone and the feel, smooth a silk I love it.

My first Epiphone was a Masterbuilt, 500 AJ and people walking past the house would stop and listen and I’m not that good but my Epi was. I loved that guitar like I loved my wife who bought it for me.

An Unbelievable Value. I had a J-45 Gibson(traded for a LP) that honestly did not sound as good as the Dove. I did a lot of research on a budget minded, play every day instrument scored in the 9's on all the independent reviews. Action out of the box is great but plan to lower it a touch. I would recommend this guitar to a friend. Would use it for a small stage venue. On rating have had no reason to contact Epi.
