Been a frequent patron of Zzounds for over half a decade but this is first semi-hollow body bass guitar and not only was it love at first sight but love at first tone and feel. I did not expect the smoothness of the neck profile, fretboard and sound. I play all genres of music but I did not expect to even be able to thump, pop and do funk licks on the Jack Casady as all the other semi-acoustic basses that I have ever encountered could not accept such cruelty from the punishment that us funk bass players pronounce upon our bass guitars and that pick up is like no other pickup quiet, smooth, fat and brilliant is exactly what you get. The feel of a premium electric bass but entry level price. Thanks again Zzounds.

Was looking for a bass that isn't another Jazz bass or PJ bass. Considered music man and hofner also in the semi hallow.Overall glad I went this way. It gives me very different tones and playability than the fender jazz. Its a nice alternative. Already many sons I prefer on this bass now and some I don't. This is what I was looking for so I have to give it 5 in sound and features since its features are very different from that Jazz Bass standard. For Quality I returned the first one because the head was snapped off the neck on arrival. Thanks zZounds for the fast turn around on replacement. The next issue was that the Bass has a buzz on open low E or A and not even when played aggressively. A buzz through the whole body and up the neck. This was not fret buzz. If you have this don't send it back a second time, change the strings. Sometimes the string can be bad. You cant see it. Its not the fret. The string looks fine. It's like the core gets separated from the wind. Then this bass is just so resonant you feel it through the whole bass. Some new string and a set up per the Jack Casady website will get you in the ball park. I found I like the bridge just a little lower, still with no fret buzz and sweet action. So while there were some bumps the result is a very nice instrument.A plus on quality is the fret work is very nice. I didn't expect that on the Epi. The neck is sweet. A bit thick but my hand quickly gets comfortable. I see why Jack can play them on tour. This devil is punchy! I can feel that punch of the string from the semi hallow. Its got a depth that the jazz bass just cant get. Only one pickup but I am not lookin for more. That fat depth can bleed on certain songs and I find some compression can clean that up nicely. The quality issues were detail, bad strings, loose pots and no setup. But the fretwork and parts all seem very good. I even don't not the like gibson 3 point bridge everyone hates.
