I bought this one based on price and availability...they had it at the local store. Wife talked me into it. I love playing it. I am going to use it until it won't work anymore. Not sure what I will do then.
Sound
very woody, deep and rich. stays in tune well. As with most acoustic/electric basses, you will need an amp if you are doing anything more than practicing by yourself. I run it through a Hartke Kickback 12, and it sounds wonderful.
Features
Battery compartment a little tough to get into, but pre-amp works well.
Ease of Use
very playable. you are not going to be burning up the frets, but this is the wrong instrument for that!
Manufacturer Support
Never dealt with Epiphone.
The Wow Factor
It works for what I need it for. It is a large instrument, so make sure you can carry it onstage.

"Great Sound, Mediocre Set up"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Acoustically this bass sounds amazing...I played a few more expensive ones and the sound quality is the same or better.
Features
I went middle of the road here. The on board electronics/preamp look great but I don't know how they sound. The input jack is grounding out. Straight from opening it up, I couldn't plug it into my amp it just buzzes really loud. Even though you get a little card that says the electronics were tested.
Ease of Use
Once again middle of the road. I cant use it plugged in! Also due to the abnormal shape of the sound hole getting to the rear strap input is almost impossible for anyone with a fore arm.
Quality
This bass is beautiful! My neck has quite a bow in it, I tried to simply adjust the truss rod but it was almost completely tightened! I have a fair buzz on my E string 12th fret, then a dead fret on the G string 14th fret. But after I spend the money to have the neck professionally set up it should be fine.
Value
You get what you pay for. Comparing models in this price range this one sounded the best.
