I’ve used numerous Emg pickups in my guitars, 81,60,85,57,66 over the years. I decided I would take a chance on these in an older Jackson RR-94, and they are a spectacular upgrade. These destroy the stock pickups from that guitar and they stand out compared to my other Randy Rhoads loaded with Emg 81’s.Very lively and versatile pickups.

I have the Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder which was bought from zZounds of course. These pickups come stock in this model. I'm a high gain distortion freak and I lean heavily towards the Seymour Duncan TB6 and TB4 humbuckers in my guitars. I've always shied away from active pickups and never really gave EMG a chance. I plugged in and played through my high gain rig and I was blown away by what was coming out of my amp. Basically, these EMG 70 pickups clean everything up and kind of compressed the sound. Almost like I was running a compressor and a noise gate. Not a radical effect, but very subtle. These pickups can chug and get that metal all day long, but with clarity. That being said, if you want versatility you got it with these pickups. The clean sound amazing. Very tight and crisp sounding. I'm impressed and I am leaning toward installing these EMG 70s in my Explorer. I bet these would sound killer in my LP and Explorer. Great pickups. Plus, zZounds is the best on the net and have amazing customer service.
