"Amazing little speaker that rivals the Bose S1 Pro"

I did a comparison between the similar Bose S1 Pro and this EV EVERSE, seemingly EV's answer to the Bose in the mini battery powered bluetooth PA speaker market and I must say I was blown away by the sheer amount of power this little puppy has, as well as all the additional features not found on the S1 Pro! In comparison to the Bose, the EVERSE not only has way more headroom, but also has an 7 band EQ on top of bass, mid, & treble controls for each channel (including bluetooth) as well as far the master channel. Out of the box, the Bose definitely sounded more hi fi with a much fuller low end than the EV, however, after a few days of really dialing in the EV, I was able to get it to not only come close to the sound of the Bose, but even surpass it in terms of overall fidelity. While the Bose definitely has some other pluses over the EV, such as automatically detecting the speaker orientation including if it's mounted on a pole or not (this must be manually adjusted on the EV), the amount of adjustability and customization the EV offers is nothing short of astounding for a speaker of this size and weight. Highly recommended!
Sound
Sounds like a micro version of it's bigger brothers, but with the adjustability of it's higher end siblings.
Features
Hands down the 7 band EQ for me!
Ease of Use
For me it was not plug and play in terms of sounding it's best out of the box. While it didn't sound bad at all with it's default settings, it took a copious amount of EQ carving to really bring it to life.

I am a bass player and was looking for something I could take anywhere for practice, jamming to mp3's or even for a small gig...anywhere... I looked online at reviews of this and the Bose S1 pro+, what I learned is that if you are a musician playing a guitar, bass, keyboard, or any other instrument that requires amplification this is a solid choice, the fact that it has 30 effects in the app means you don't need your pedal board, even if you wanted to use it you cant if you are on battery and remote somewhere. Features galore with this unit...7 band eq, phantom power, DC power out, line out and much more...and a beefy soundthat will put a smile on your face guaranteed I spent a good 2 days researching this and the Bose S1 pro+.

I am a mobile DJ, do mainly weddings. If you are on the fence about this, hop off and BUY IT! This thing hits hard, looks amazing (I got the white, white a white speaker stand as well). I had the Bose S1 Pro for a couple of years. Bought the JBL EON ONE Compact earlier this year, solely for the ability to power my mic receiver and have regretted it. The JBL was an underpowered, anemic POS. Even with the same SPL as the Bose, it still left SO much to be desired when trying to put any heat to it. Literally had it for like 4 months. Just got my EVERSE8 and have used it for two ceremonies so far and LOVE IT! The features are awesome, it looks great, and it gets loud! I plugged my JBL USB power cord (using a USB to USB-C adapter) and I can power my AT receiver off that charge port while we wait for the shelf and power cord. AND it fits perfectly into the JBL bag, so you can save some money there. I already sold my JBL, could not be happier with this speaker. BUY IT, you will not regret it!

"Electro-Voice EVERSE 8 Speaker"

First the pros. This little amp packs quite a punch for such a small amplifier. I was amazed at how loud it could get. It will fare well in a coffee house setting, wedding ceremony, busking or any small outdoor event. I like mine on a tripod stand. And it has some 30 onboard effects. Some good some bad. I wasn't that impressed with the chorus effect so don't expect it to sound as good as a Roland's chorus. I think that's where Electro-Voice failed in that regard as it could be better. Now the cons. This is for the soloist. There are no additional inputs for another guitar and microphone. It has quite a learning curve to get it set up. By that I mean getting the bluetooth to pair up with your device. My device is my smartphone. Once you can get that out of the way it seems to be alright. But all and all for its versatility it does way better than the Mackie Thump and the Bose S1 Pro which I think the Bose is way overpriced. I like the weight factor as it's only 18 pounds and it surely will not break your back taking it from one gig to another and it is weatherproof too. I would highly recommend getting a protective carrying bag for it.

Right out of the box, it looked amazing, however I wasn’t very impressed when I played music in factory setting compared to the Bose S1 pro, however I took the time to get familiar with it, download the app and start tuning the EQ and effects to my liking and kept falling more and more in love with it the more I learned and fine tuned the sound. Once I reached that sound I was looking for I knew why the EV everse 8 is more expensive than the Bose S1 pro. You can set multiple eq memories and tune the eq for each input independently, ElectroVoice really worked their magic on this one.

I was pleasantly surprised by these speakers. I come from the ETX series to these for portability. I have one and usually in parks and smaller indoor places have been asked to turn this down. I love it. I will be definitely getting a second speaker. With a Jackety power inverter and these speakers, I am fully portable with Rev 7, 2022 MacBook and this speakers.

One of the worst learning curves I have ever experienced with an amp. If you're not real techie as far as apps go, I would highly recommend steering away for this amp. I view it as a nightmare.

"Overpriced."

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
It's a good battery powered speaker. Yes its louder than the Bose s1. but doesn't have that "Bose" dispersion. Basically its an ok point source speaker with more power than the s1. The problem here is that Bose is already very overpriced. EV decided to compete in the battery speaker mobile market but came at a higher price. Although it may have more features, that doesn't make it worth it. The wireless linking for a stereo pair only works with bluetooth streams and not with the "built in STEREO mixer"? This kind of ridiculously stupid design flaw should be all you need to hear to STAY AWAY. I'd buy it if it was $400, came with totes. and the wireless communication actually worked for live stereo PA performances.. but it doesn't . Soooo. Reality check.. just because its new doesn't make it worth it.. its a power play on the limited battery portable market. Before you flame me.. check out a cheap harbinger mlx900 pa system around $400 that actually links the built in stereo mixer wirelessly in a pair. Think about it. Any of these 8" powered speakers like qsc and the like can run off a 2lb battery pack velcro'd to the back with tons more power, low end etc. Get some perspective.. this ev speaker is overpriced, and doesnt even link the mixer with its included "no wires" tech.. shameful.
