I think it's killer for the price. I was expecting to spend around $400 or so for a decent pedal unit, but this one worked beyond my expectations. Has direct USB audio input into my DAW (Ableton Live), which is great for people into computer/MIDI type stuff: BIG +++ You can even afford to buy some other pedals or amp modeling software with leftover money if you wish. I think it'll be fine for me (unitl the next generation of RPs come out) =)
Sound
I'm a 28 year old keyboard player/electronic music producer who loves all kinds of musical styles. I'm just now getting into playing guitar and I have a very large CD collection ranging from Ambient to Zydeco. I'm familiar with how guitar recordings should sound on nice studio monitors. Right now I'm using the RP250 as my direct USB input into my Mac and running a MOTU Ultralite as the firewire output device into ADAM A7 powered monitors with no noticable latency. The RP250 sounds like the real thing. I feel as though I can honestly say this because I don't have the baggage associated with being a life long guitar player who is a purist snob and can't admit that this little $150 pedal is amazing. I also think that many amp modelers get bashed unfairly by guitar players who have only heard them either through their guitar amp, or on crappy computer speakers or their cheap home stereo. You're not going to TRULY hear how these advanced processors can perform without hearing on a system that has accurate DA converters and speakers.
Features
It doesn't do everything other modelers do, but you can get pretty deep into shaping your tone with the free downloadable software. I would've liked to have a MIDI in port to do program changes and sync the delay with my MPC. Considering the sounds you get for $150 it does a helluva lot and there should be minimal complaining I'd think.
Ease of Use
I found it easy enough to use, but this is coming from someone who uses electronic music with software and MIDI gear. Though, I'd imagine even people who didn't laugh at "Idiocracy" would be able to use this thing.
Quality
Metal chassis. Seems sturdy enough. Certainly doesn't feel cheap. Seems Digitech has done a great job designing this thing. Made in the USA to boot!
Value
I'm extremely impressed with not only how good the RP series sounds as an amp modeler, but also how good it sounds compared to products 2 or 3 times the price! I was prepared to shell out $400 or so on the Vox or Line 6 units but the online demos just didn't sound as good to me as the Digitech ones. They didn't at the showroom either.
Manufacturer Support
I don't really know as I haven't needed support yet from Digitech, however I've dealt with a sister company to Harman Pro (Lexicon) and their tech support was a bit above average.
The Wow Factor
Not the "sexiest" guitar pedal out there, but it looks decent enough. I would've not chosen the aqua/teal type color on the control matrix display. Maybe a brushed aluminum look with black details or something. Anyways it's really about the sound for me, as this will mostly be used in a studio setting with my computer and monitors.

It will take a while to wear this thing out. I am pretty easy on my equipment - I don't bang it around. I don't STOMP on a stomp box. It seems well built - and with even a reasonable amount of care - I expect it to give me a good long run. Maybe as I learn more about other equipment - I may replace it. I am always looking for the new idea. Until then - this is the cat's meow!
Sound
Sound is pretty good. Reverb is awful. If you listen close - the reverb will emit a sound like dripping water. Pluck a string muted - an you will hear the drip. Yuck. Took reverb off of all my presets - and let the Fender Blues DeVille provide the reverb when wanted. MUCH BETTER.
Features
I like the preset sounds - but I would have liked it laid out a little differently. Many of the un-changable presets (61 - 120) sound similar. I would have preferred they eliminate the ones that were similar - and gave the user more changable entries. Allowing the user to have 80 - and the other 40 as permanent entries.
Preset sounds are pretty good - but you need to change them a little to fit the guitar & amp combo you are using.
Ease of Use
You can, very quickly, get some pretty cool sounds from this box. Easy to adjust once you get the hang of it. I read the manual quickly (believe it or not) and got a little overwhelmed. So, I just turned it on - and started messing with it. I found that I was able to teach myself pretty quickly - using the manual for reference. At that point the manual really proved to be useful. Reading NO - Reference YES!
I don't know all the little ins and outs yet - but that will come with time. It is in there - I just need to figure out how to get it out. You can get rolling fairly quickly. I think it is worth the persuit.
Quality
The pedal itself is cast - and seems quite sturdy. I am not happy with the cheap little knobs. I would rather they be aluminum - with set-screws. These knobs come off very easily. I am a little concerned that they will dislodge while getting bounced around on the road. So far though - no problem. I will be keeping my eye on that. I may super-glue the knobs right on each pot. We'll see if it becomes a problem.
Value
I bought mine used - $75 - like new condition. GREAT VALUE!!! I higly recommend it - even at the full price of $149! I can have a 45 tune set - and literally have a different sound for each song. Each sound is repeatable - exactly - each time I play with the band. It gives you a consistancy that is fantastic. You don't have to settle on a particular distortion box - there are a bunch in there to choose from! Same thing for the chorus - phaser - you name it. It completely changed the way I approach creating my sound.
Manufacturer Support
No problems yet. The web site is pretty good. I was able to bring the firmware up to date very easily. Also downloaded the X-Edit software - and it is really cool! Using a laptop - you can modify the RP-250 on the fly. No messing with switches, knobs, dials, etc. You just change the parameter (any parameter) on the screen - and the RP-250 is instantly changed. Some parameters on the RP-250 can ONLY be modified using the PC - which is interesting. It appears that to really modify the sound exactly the way you want it - a laptop is a must.
The Wow Factor
It ain't beautiful - but it is functional. I don't think of electronic equipment in terms of "sex appeal". I reserve that for the Guitars and the ladies. For me - good performance electronics - DISAPPEAR! I prefer my equipment to be as invisible as possible. Hidden behind a monitor, mic stand etc. This little unit can hide behind a monitor with ease. I would prefer it were all BLACK instead of the gun-metal grey & aluminum. Not that big of a deal though. It works great - and that is what really counts.

"Best pedal for your money!"
This product fits ANY guitarist's needs. I didn't metion that you can plug this up into a computer and record. Its come in great use to me when my friends want to hear my version of a song. It has a TON of sounds. No matter what style you play, you will find a sound. Plus, this thing looks like it will last 5 years, as long as you take good care of it.
Sound
The sounds that this pedal makes are unbelievable. All the way from a nice, acoustic sound, to a hardcore metal sound. This pedal has a TON. Last time I checked, I think it had over 80 different sounds. I stick to two main sounds when I'm not try to match a sound, but it's easy to create one.
Features
Really confusing at first to get. It took me about a month to get my mind around everything on there, but since then its worked wonders. I love the built in tuner. Its so accurate. My guitar has never sounded better. There are literally over a million possibilites with this for sounds.
Ease of Use
Its pretty easy to get. Sounds are easy to scroll through, volume and wah-wah are pretty easy to control. For all its got, I found it suprisingly simple.
Quality
This thing looks like its gonna last me years. Its sturdy, and thats almost all you can ask for on the quality. It will last you through quite a few gigs.
Value
Totally worth the money (Even though I didn't buy it, it was a gift). This thing has sounds beyond imagination, its pretty easy to get, and its sturdy. For the price, I say its well worth it.
The Wow Factor
It looks awesome. What else can I say?

DigiTech RP250 Effects Customer Review
Sound
This product sounds just like the actual stomp boxes. It has replaced many of my individual boxes. Sound quality is a 10! The sound enhances my playing ability and I become more expressive. With all of the sounds in this product, I can easily dial in the sounds I like. The play-along drum beats are supperior to the RP200 in which this product has replaced. I have brought this RP250 into the studio and have played live with it and it stands up perfect in both settings. Sometimes I use the RP200 plugged into the RP250 and then through my Hypnotic flange, Hyper Phase, 808 Tube Screamer, and through my FX80B Compressor Sustainer in order to captivate a vast sound spectrum. I usually play through a Craite GLX 2x12 and I have not yet had any problems pleasing a croud with my electrified funk & Blues!!!
Ease of Use
You just push the buttons and stomp the pedals. The instructions are clear!
Quality

"Fantastic Multi Effects And Amp modeling Pedal For The Price"
Overall im very satisfied with this pedal it does everything i want and then some, Its not the best sound quality in the world but very very VERY far from the worst in fact id take this pedal over and Modeling Amp
Great pedal for recording i get decent sound quality with this and free download able recording software and playing and it has a built in tuner, metronome and drum loops so its also great for practice.
Sound
The Sound Quality is pretty good over all, but of course you cant expect the amp models to sound exactly like the real thing but they are still good over all.And the the distortion and effects are great too.
Features
This pedal has it all Distortions and over drives Flangers phasers choruses reverbs delays pitch shifters whammys wahs pick-up simulater's
rotary filters compressors and some other stuff im probably forgetting.
So on features its a perfect 10
Ease of Use
Very easy to use after read the handy manual.
Quality
Great quality i have had mine for about four months and its still as good as new and i expect it to last a while.
Value
Great value. For any guitarist looking to find what effects they like or getting started recording this is the best value, and for as many features as it has its probably worth at least another $100
The Wow Factor
It looks a lot better than a bunch of pedals and messy cables.

Great drums to play along with. Set up your heads with cabinets of all kinds. It will amaze you!! Trust me. This is my third pedal/Pod effects unit and is by far the best. Line 6 is not in the same game as this unit.

"Too fixed and undynamic"
Verified Purchaser
zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
I think this is one of those many pedals that will get relegated to the "don't use anymore" pile, and I'll revert to the volume pedal.
Sound
This unit doesn't seem to respond to my playing style as I'd like. I know there's a certain amount of technique that I must bring to my playing in using this unit, but I didn't seem to be very able to get the settings (there are only two - sensitivity and attack) to correspond to my playing. I think I'll improve over time on using it to the best of my ability, but I still don't anticipate it getting much better. I think a plain old volume pedal like a ShoBud would be a better way to go, to control the signal's envelope. I'd also like the attack control to be broader, to allow for an even longer/slower attack. And, the battery compartment could be a LOT easier to get into.
Features
No accessories, although a power adapter is available for separate purchase.
Quality
Fit and finish are fine. The body's plastic instead of metal, but I don't think it makes any real difference.
Value
Definitely fairly priced.
Manufacturer Support
Although I threw the packaging away, I don't recall that any manual came with it, because I simply couldn't figure out how to get a battery into the unit and had to go online to look into the online manual to figure it out (very strange - you have to poke in both hinges on the pedal in order to get underneath the pedal to get to the battery compartment.
The Wow Factor
I think it's useful to an extent, but I find that my own playing style is so dynamic that a volume pedal would be a much better choice to control envelope - able to be more fluid and dynamic, rather than stuck to a given fixed envelope control. Users should strongly consider whether their own playing style will be compatible to a very fixed and non-dynamic device.

"Bad-A** Tone, Strange Wah-Wah"
I'll keep this thing forever. Just wish the Wah didn't switch on and off the way it does (by pressing the rocker pedal to its farthest travel),
Sound
Sound quality is fantastic. Distortion, EQ, Amp simulation, and pickup options allow a ton of flexibility for creating clean or crunch tones.
Features
The only problem I found is that it's easy to turn off your WAH pedal and have it behave like a volume while in the middle playing. This is a really scary cocnept for live playing... I think there may be some sort of sensitivity adjustment that could correct this, but I'm not sure.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use. However, it'd be super if it had a dedicated one-click toggle to turn on and off the distortion -or- perhaps a performance mode where you could set up your 4 favorite sounds and have them on the on-and-off positions of the two pedals...
Quality
Built tough. Metal housing.
Value
Massive number of sound crafting options. Dirt cheap price. Buy one now.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed help. Works great.
The Wow Factor
If the housing were gloss black and it had bigger chrome knobs, it would be stunning. As it is, it looks good.

"Power and Versatility for a Great Price!"
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I still have some things to learn about it. I play in a place where an amp on stage doesn't work. I can go straight into the sound system and tweak the EQ with a laptop. It fits my needs, perfectly.
Sound
You can't beat the modeled cabinets and reverbs for the price.
Ease of Use
The manual was easy, but it could be more informative on the Amp/Mixer Switch. I would like more detail on what changes it makes to the output. Still, on other features it was clear and easy to read.
Quality
It seems well made, but I'd take care with it on the road.
Value
Good bang for the buck.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't any need to contact the company.

"sweet mix of effects, distortions, and a drum machine!"
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
with all the features you cant go wrong, i found the tone i wanted in about 15 minutes and are still discovering new abilities and iv had it for a couple weeks, only problem is the wah which i apologize for rambling about.
Sound
you can get so many varieties of tones out of this thing. anything from a hot marshall plexie drive, to the cleanest of cleans. not to mention all the effects that just add to the gretness
Features
offerers many different distortion pedal models, like the ibanez tube screamer, to the boss ds-1 and metal zone and not to mention digitechs own grunge and death metal distortions for the more hard core players. all different amplifiers from marshalls to fenders and boogie mesas. chorus, all kinds of reverbs, delays, phaser, flanger, compressor, wah wahs, a bulit in drum machine with 60 diffenet beats from counrty and jazz to metal to hip hop(ewww)
Ease of Use
a little confusing at first but put some time into it and you'll find the tone you want in no time, i also recommend downloading the X edit software of of Digitechs website to make your fine tuning alot easier. its also free so theres no hassle, as long as your computer meets the requirements. however my only problem with this product is the wah/ expression pedal. if you have read other reviews they may have mentioned the problem with it. when you stomp down on it like you normally would it engages the wah, however if you press down on it again too hard, it disengages the wah and then it turns into a volume pedal which is extremely annoying because you may do it accidentally like i have a million times and when you heel it, it turns the volume all the way down. so once again, be careful when using the wah
Quality
metal frame dosn't look like it will break any time soon
Value
with soooooooo many features, i don't think i would ever sell it so its definetly worth the money
