"Great kit for the cost!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I notice a warmer sound from the DDRUM than my Yamaha Beech Customs. I think the toms have a nice feel and the overall sound is a bit more to my liking. The drum sizes help with minimal "overring."
Features
I think the ball clamps and mounts lack a little "sturdiness", but the overall hardware on the drums looks great and seems to be quality made.
Ease of Use
Easy to assemble, fairly easy to tune. I would ditch the stock heads right away and get some quality REMOS or EVANS heads.
Quality
I've heard some horror stories about manufacturing issues....but mine came with no problems whatsoever. I like the look and style of the drums. Lugs and hardware are a nice black nickle finish.
Value
I think for the money paid...you get a good quality kit, with great features and great sound. Sure, there are fancier kits for more money. But if you want a good kit to play with (intermediate to Pro features) and don't want to shell out all the extra cash for a (practice, moderate gigging kit) this is a great deal!
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal with them. On occassion have sent an email, and they've promptly returned my messages.
The Wow Factor
LOOKS AWESOME! Great kit to look at from a fans perspective! I've got the (Java Sparkle) and it's retro looking, but very ROCK AND ROLL!!

"GREAT KIT AT A GREAT PRICE!!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will play these drums as long as they live through it. If I get another kit it will be to prolong the life of this kit, and unless I get a sponsor from somone else (more sarchasim) It WILL be a nother DDRUM I buy.
Sound
Playing this kit with Aquarian Studio X Coated heads. The sound is amazing, came from a Pearl studio custom (Birch.) the DDRUM is a much fatter sounding kit. I don't know if it is my impecible tuning (implied sarchasim) or the Drums but the pitch bend is perfect. The DEEP kick is a CANNON and a dream to mic. Running Evans Emad on resonant and batter on kick.... Love this kit!
Features
I like the black chrome hardware and the tuning on these drums goes smoothly.
Ease of Use
The mount for the tom is a little weak, and sags slightly when you hang it, which makes finding the perfect spot a little frustrating. However, once you find it and memory lock it you're good!
Quality
I like my kit no problems what so ever. Have heard of mount and finish issues, but i havent had any. The only very minute and vain complain Ihave is that they could have hidden the seem on the outer veneer of the natural finish better. I have the exact kit as the picture above, the color was perfect, but the seem work is a little lacking.
Value
For the money you can't get a better set, unless you find a start up custom shop willing to give you a killer deal. I came from a more expensive kit with the intentions of this being my Gig kit and my Pearl being my studio kit. Needless to say I no longer own the Pearl. At 3500 vs. the 800 or so I paid for these WAY BETTER VALUE!!
Manufacturer Support
haven't had to use them the best offense is a good defense. I haven't had to use support which tells me my kit is built right!
The Wow Factor
Very sexy looking kit especially when polished up and in tune. If you play this kit You will want it!!! I take my snare with me to demo kits, this kit came with a matching snare, I honestly have NO idea how it sounds but is looks nice with the kit!

"Positives and Negatives"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Purchaser zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
This will probably last a few years. Will be moving up in quality eventually, but can't afford that right now. This will meet short term goals. This one was purchased based on low to mid-range price and mid-range quality. The color was a factor, so we thought about sending it back at first, until we looked at it for a long time. We will get new drum heads first. We already have stands, but will want to get better cymbals than what I have now.
Sound
After new heads, the sound is really good for this level of a drum set. I have heard better, but after a point it is really hard to tell.
Features
This is just a shell kit - no hardware. The high tom does come with necessary hardware to attach it to your own stand. This set does not have toms that mount on the bass drum, so this set has a better bass sound than some others (with good head). The heads that come with it are bad, as expected, so need to be replaced. The color is much lighter than shown in the picture. See comment below (Quality). More dissappointingly, this set did NOT come with the special bag that was advertised that it comes with. I called about this and they could not assure me that I would actually get this. I have to wait until someone else contacts me to tell me how they will handle this. I better get what was advertised! Now that the price of the drum set has dropped by $180 in the two weeks since I bought it (bad luck for me, I guess) I will not settle for not receiving this free gift or an equivalent refund. How frustrating!
Ease of Use
There was no manual with this. A beginner may need advice for mounting heads and tuning. I have had 5 drum sets, so this one was easy to get used to. It sounds better than my previous sets. It is good quality. Great for the price, especially now that the price is less.
Quality
The finish is beautiful, just not what was expected at all. It is completely full of glitter and looks silver in the sun light. It looks light gold to beige in the yellowish room light. Several lights around it make it sparkle like a diamond. It is definitely not brown sparkle, like the color name (java sparkle) and picture imply. It should be called something lighter than "java", like "tsn sparkle". That doesn't sound as nice, though.
Value
I thought it was, until they reduced the price two weeks later. However, we compared it to other stores who also had comparable prices. We just had bad timing. We wont send it back though. It is a good set.
Manufacturer Support
No problems, except the ddrum stick pack backpack was missing. I haven't spoken to anyone from the company that made this set. They owe me a backpack.
The Wow Factor
Very sexy for a jazz drummer. Rock - it'll work. Darker might be better. Depends on tastes. It seems to be made very well. It is my 5th drum set, and I started at the bottom and got better with each. This is the best I have had, but not the last.
