Sound
Very subtle, but definitely there. I use this in one of my bass amp racks -- in another I use a 266XL, and a third an Alesis something-or-other. The 166XL is definitively superior, and the more I use it the more I can appreciate its understated value. Responsive, musical, smooth compression, and the gate does what you tell it to do. I have an older unit that performs like the day I bought it. Worth the money, no question.
