I think this guitar will do almost anything you wanna play. But definitely leaning towards jazz, blues, classic and even hard rock. The nut was loose, not glued to the neck. Not sure of its a defect qc issue or was supposed to be that way. A dab of super glues fixed that. Nut is bone and cut perfectly. Only qc issue with guitar, other than that its perfect. Neck nice C profile noce and roomy, not too chunky but not too thin either.Very resonant acoustically, not quite as resonant as my full hollow Gretsch - Way more than my Strats. Pickups have a really nice warm, almost lush tone, especially the neck. Very articulate and warm with a nice midrange complexity. One of the nice things about these pickups is they are very well matched to the guitar. Balanced. Not too bright, and not too much bass with that nice very present midrange. Bridge pickup seems a little hotter than the neck the just a little raunchiness, in a good way. Played so far through my Supro Delta King 12 the combo is to me, magic. Also sounds great through a couple of modeling amps is have. Was looking for a 335 ish semi hollow with vintage style humbckers. The Excel nails it! In my eyes this guitar is a Steal for the price and I think these were going for $1400 when they cam out. Everything is top notch, tuners, hardware, fit n finish all way nicer than a lot of what's out there I've seen. Everything is perfect on this guitarcand its very very classy looking. She's a keeper, I named her Thelma Jean... get one..

A few important details I left out from my first review:Electronics seem excellent. Swit is very solid and positive feeling. Volume pot rolls off smoothly and overdriven cleans up nicely. Tone also roll off well, nice taper. Both pots work very smooth. Won't be replacing anything electronic unless it breaks. Especially the pickups! Imo the star attraction of this semi hollow beautys sound. The frets are level, my fret rocker finds them to be really good, nothing high on this one. The ends also really smooth. This does not feel like a $700 guitar. The neck really solid and fast. Playability awesome, relief was almost touching, no buzz. Action was a bit low for my taste but didn't buzz. Love the headstock, not too much. It's a nice guitar period!Finish is perfect. Kinda thick poly but that's kinda norm for most stuff under $1.5- 2k I think. The wine is a lot nicer looking in person. A very deep burgundy almost looks black in dark room. Love the abundance of 5 ply binding, really nice classy touch. All n all a very cool guitar.I installed a Les Tren II was super ez. A little oil on trem hinges and string slots on nut. Surprisingly very stable and to me, makes the guitar even better. Sustain didn't seem to suffer. Which is one of this guitars strong suites. Great sustain.Hope I didn't leave anything out. This is a great guitar and I'm very glad I went for it....
