There is nothing that I do not like about this amp. I will probably get another to make a nice low watt stack!!I thoughtof getting an AC-15VOX but the "call of the Crate was too strong!!"
Sound
Let me say right away that the speakers in the amp are sub-standard.I knew that when I bought it.I am running the 18 watts thru a Behringer 4-12 Jensen spkr. cab. What a sonic difference!Jensens'are a VERY underated spkr. and should get alot ofkudo's.
Meanwhile back at the AMP...it has a great growly O.D. and a good solid clean tone. It works great with my Keeley-modified blues driver and with this cab alittle reverb goes a looong way!
Features
The AMP. comes w/out footswitch features. As a stand alone amp. it is tone city with the right settings,easy to find(start from flat)and go easy on the reverb it's kinda woofey,if you know what I mean.
The best features are/is the gain overdrive.Chimey,growly all at once
sounds weird on paper,but,sounds terrific in person.LOUD,is also a good feature! 18 watts? I think more like 20-24 is more likely!
Great sound,and once the speakers get broken in,they sound alot better than out of the box.
Ease of Use
It is SO easy to get good tone I won't waste time on it.
Start at flat(meaning,high noon on the dial markers.)And a little reverb(see above)and go for your best tone remembering to play it LOUD as ya can,or,as the cops say ya can!Good luck.
Quality
Good solid wood makes a real diff. in tone and the Crate 18 has good wood.I think it would do fine on the road,it seems tough and able to take some knocks.Everything brittle or breakable is well covered with 1/2 inch plywood and a solid steel chassis,so no worries there! This AMP. is a keeper.At least i'm keeping mine!

This amp is worth much more than I paid for it. Thank God for Chinese labor,and American quality control!

The Wow Factor
This amp is a sexy little devil that will seduce the unwary,so watch-out! I just really like the way it looks,and presents itself on stage.It would be great to see it in different colors such as White,sky blue,fire engine red,etc...etc..

Excellent sound and volume for the price. I have 9 amps both tube and SS I am very impressed by the performance of this unit. Well built and looks great.
