"Buy it. You wont be sorry. Especially if you play metal, but it is good for just about everything."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I bought this amp 1 year ago and I am still pleased, but I am selling it to a friend so that I can purchase a Crate Flexwave half stack.
Sound
Personally, this amp is perfect for my music, metal. The high gain is amazing! It is better than most pedals or any other amp, stack or combo, around. The clean is crystal clear and the overdrive is impressive as well.
Features
This product had everything I needed. It came with a pedal to change from clean to overdrive to high gain in one step. The pedal included the ability to turn the built in effects on and off. I rarely use the effects due to the fact that I believe it muddles the sound, but I must say that the effects do sound very nice.
Ease of Use
Plug in, and play basically.
Quality
I have never had a problem with the quality of this amp. I have toted this thing up and down steps, threw bushes, and everywhere in between. I haven't had any components come loose or fall apart.
Value
When I purchased this item, I considered lots of different amps. I looked at Marshals, Peaveys, Ravens, and just about everything else. I chose this amp because it was the right price and had everything I needed at the time.
Manufacturer Support
Due to the fact that I haven't had to replace anything this amp is the best.
The Wow Factor
I believe this amp is very "sexy." It has a nice exterior and is "heavy duty."

"not a bad amp"

for the price you cant go wrong its and awesome deal.
Sound
for a low cost amplifier the sound is very good. remember its not a $2000 dollar Marshall tube amp but you already knew that. the clean channel is very usable. the overdrive channel is also good the high gain channel is not to my liking but will work for some. as a practice and rehearsal amp its perfect.
Features
the foot switch is good but the dsp you can keep I wanted a simple amp with minimal effects. I don't like programming the effects via the footswitch its a pain. the built in tuner is useless. but that's ok because you don't have to use it. overall quality seems good but I've only had is a week. remember its a $260 amp.
Ease of Use
tone is fairly easy to dial in on this amp and for the price you cant beat it is loud if you want it to be. good for rehearsal. don't know if I would gig with it though.
Quality
seems to be well made remember the main idea here is its very cost effective cant say its road worthy but will definitely work for practice which is why I bought it. I am on a budget and needed a practice amp.
Value
great value for the price. now lets see how long this ting will last.
Manufacturer Support
don't know haven't used them although Zzounds is amazing so no worries.
The Wow Factor
for the price you cant beat it.

I got the Crate to drive my new Fender Deluxe Strat HSS Plus Top w/iOS Interface RW Aged Cherry Burst Solid-Body Electric Guitar . I also have the Morley George Lynch Dragon 2 Wah Pedal w/ Power Supply and the Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer - Classic . These two pedals with the Fender and the Crate FW120 are awesome and superb loud full sound. These go together excellently.

"The best deal you can get on a good amp."

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
this amp is great for a starting guitarist. i've played for about a year now and i still feel no need to buy a new one. this amp can be taken to any bar or restaurant gig and perform just as well amps that cost 5 times more. it may not be the clearest amp out there but if you are looking to save money its a great amp.
Sound
the clean channel sounds good, but its really hard getting a sound between absolutely clean and heavy distortion. also, the distortion can sound kind of dry unless you turn up the reverb and frequencies quite a bit. overall the amp makes good sounds though, and it gets very loud.
Features
some reviews say that there is a tuner in the amp, which would be awesome, but there isn't one. the digital effects aren't very good and sound pretty cheesy for the most part. the amp does come with a foot switch though that works great.
Ease of Use
very easy to use. storing digital effects and other settings is a little tricky though, and the instructions didn't make much sense so it may take a little getting use to if you really want to use them.
Quality
very good quality. the output jack got loose pretty quickly but its easy to tighten and the amp is pretty solid.
Value
its great value. 300 dollars for an amp that can be played along with thousand dollar amps and not be overpowered.
Manufacturer Support
i never dealt with crate directly, and i've only dealt with zzounds on another product, and they were very helpful and let me return my defective product for a new one free of charge.
The Wow Factor
it looks alright, and oddly, people with much better amps have said that they love it.

"Great Amp"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Purchaser zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
This amp is a beast and the three channels and included footswitch nd real time tuner make it a blast to play.
Sound
The clean tone is clear and crisp the reverd works well as long as you dont over do it. The overdrive is perfect wide ranged nd my damien fr from shecter really grinds through it. While the high gain is something you have to work with it does great as well really makes my emgs growl.
Features
The pop in wheels are a little hard to get in but no complicated put together and when their in thier in. The real time tuner and three chanels are awesome. The included pedal is a little confusing on setting effects but once its set its easy nd works great.
Ease of Use
Very easy to ise the amp nd tone is great but setting differnent effects to the pedal takes getting use to. I have only tryed reverb and chorus they are all i need and their both great.
Quality
Durable and heavy i seriously doubt ill break this anytime soon.
Value
This amp is worth every penny stop thinking and get this amp.
Manufacturer Support
Havent needed any works great
The Wow Factor
This is somthing about this amp that makes it down right sexy inits own way nd the velco straps in the back are awesome.

"buy this!!!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I this amp to last me a long long time. It has exactly the tone i want, and i dont think ill be wanting a new one anytime soon. If this was stolen i'd order a new one right away.
Sound
This amp is AMAZING. I bought it as an upgrade from a 7" practice amp, and it's a huge improvement. It is great for metal with the solo channel which has insane amounts of gain, and its clean channel is beautifully clear. The only drawback is that it tends to break up at (very) loud volumes. But it still sounds fairly decent turned up.
Features
It has three channels, a solo, rythm and clean. It also has a tuner and a footswitch. I use the footswitch all the time, its definately a big plus. The ryhthm channel has a nice crunch to it,and like i said the clean channel is crytal clear. The tuner sometimes can be a pain to work with, as it occasionnally won't register the correct note. It has a small selection of effects and a dedicated channel for effects on the footswitch.
Ease of Use
I plugged it in and turned it on, and instantly got a great sound from it. You can put the tone knobs just about anywhere you like and get a good sound out of it. The effects are simple to use and the manuel explains them rather clearly.
Quality
It comes with a 5/2 warranty- 5 years on electronics and 2 on speakers. It seems to be made rather well, although the head on mine is a tiny bit loose in one corner. It has velcro straps on the inside, handy for holding cables and the footswitch or whatever you carry in the back.
Value
This amp is definately worth its price. I tried out several amps in my guitar shop and none came even near to the tone you can get out of this beast.
Manufacturer Support
I had troubles getting the amp, as they kept coming broken due to shipping problems. ZZounds was extremely easy to work with, and has the fastest shipping i've ever seen from an online store!
The Wow Factor
This amp looks great. Everyone in my band said it was sick when i showed up with it.

"Nice quality amplifier"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
A damn good amp for the money. And loud enough for venues. I suggest buying it with a noise surpressor though, if you wish to turn it up past five.
Sound
This amp can produce any sound you want really. I use the clean more, and it's very clear and beautiful. The high gain is intense, and with the right noise supressor sounds really well too. Whenever I do use gain, I use the regular built in overdrive. It works like magic and sounds unblemished.
Features
Built in DSP effects that track and auto adjust when you switch settings. Simple 3 button foot pedal that switches in between the gains, cleans, and effects. Wheels for rolling the sucker, which isn't that heavy anyway. Built in tuner on the top.
Ease of Use
You plug it in, set up your sound, and play. The only kinda confusing part is the effects and working it out on the pedal.
Quality
Looks really great and futuristic. Good quality.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to call. I didn't get a manual with it though, but they have that on their website.

I have been an avid crate user for over 10 years. Now I bought an FW120 combo and I have NEVER been so dissapointed with the serious lack of power this thing has. 120 watts ??? maybe 25 watts. Rediculously underpowered. I have an older GFX65 that blows this away.

"good sound, very weak"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This amp has a nice sound but is incredibly over-rated power wise, 40 watts MAYBE. I have an old Crate GFX65 that is a whole lot louder than this amp. I cannot use the clean channel at all even at rehearsal. I have been playing semi-pro for 40 years and have never had an amp this weak on power. Don't buy this...
Sound
fair to good
Features
the high gain channel is very good for metal and some hard rock, the overdrive channel has some use but not much, very thin sounding and kind of like blown speaker sounding, The clean channel is great sounding but has very little power, can't use that on stage its far to weak.
Ease of Use
very easy to use, confusing on the part of the DSP but ok once you figure it out, the manual is pretty useless. Again can't use the clean sound on stage cause its far too weak I'm guessing more like 30 watts max.
Quality
no problems, but again I can't use it much, cause its far to weak in power
Value
not worth the money except to use at home for your own enjoyment only
Manufacturer Support
I did call them and complained about the low volume, I thought there was really something wrong with it. They said it was a "MUCH QUIETER AMP THAN THE HAVE MADE IN THE PAST" I argued that it was advertised faulsely, They did not agree, and said HEY it's only 120 watts !!!!
The Wow Factor
I give it an F, I'm using it in my apartment only, thats all its good for

There is NO way this amp is 120 watts, I can play it in my apartment at almost full power on the clean channel. The sound quality is ok but a bit on the thin side. But the power is rediculously weak. 30 watts maybe not 120 for sure
