After hearing the solo to John Mayer's Wildfire I thought an auto wah/envelope filter would be a good addition to my board. After some research and YouTube reviews I found the Carl Martin. I found it to be a handsome pedal and looked to have a good amount of features without being too finicky or complicated. The pedal is solid construction and what you'd expect from a boutique style pedal. One thing I noticed was the reviews of this pedal on YouTube were done using Humbucker pick ups which is important because it acts completely different with single coils. It's not as responsive and requires much more pick dynamics to get the pedal to respond. It requires quite a bit of tweaking to get the sound right(wildfire solo sound) and finally I was able to dial it in. This pedal is pretty good. I'd recommend it for humbuckers though. You have to work a little harder for the single coils. But I'd say even then it's worth the purchase and with single coils it adds just a touch of color to your sound.
