You can dial in so many tones with this bass. this is my first day with it. i love the EQ, and push/pull active/passive knob, very cool!! just a heads up, these pickups dont necessarily sound like a regular P bass but a Pbass that is less clanky, while sounding great and coupled with the EQ you can get a huge fat sound! with the treb/mid/bass EQ you can dial in all types, but i believe this bass was designed for rock/hard rock players. neck feels great, the roasted/carmelized maple looks sweet! one of the knobs fell off when i pulled the bass outta the box, im guessing due to being in a hurry to bring these out, overlooked, i put it on with my own allen wrench, the ones included didnt work for the EQ knobs. also the battery box cover broke the first time i opened to make sure the battery was ready to go, cheap area, just be careful there. super excited to record with this bass, so far everything is great except the batt box cover. But the pickups!!!! WOW! Solid, huge, and super clean (although you can get a gritty, driving tone as well.) This bass is made in Mexico, but along with some similarities, this seems better than Fender Mexican basses, imho (preference of course...)

This is a great feeling bass with tremendous versatility. The P pickup was a much louder than the J so I had to lower it to give the bass a bit more balance. The preamp seems to be a bit crispy on the very top end and has a definite buzz when you are not grounding the strings. The low end control is overly powerful and it is easy to have to much bottom and wash out any articulation. The neck is amazingly smooth and comfortable all the way up. The inlays glow in the dark and that's pretty cool. Mine is pretty light weight and I found it comfortable for a four hour practice.

The good: The bass is beautiful, very comfortable to play and the pickups are great. The bad: There was fret sprout, but that was easily fixed with a file. The hum from a grounding issue was horrible, took the back cover off and the shielding paint was almost non-existent. I took the pots and pickups out and applied copper tape and soldered all the grounding points and put everything back together. The grounding issue was solved. The preamp isn't that great to my ears anyways, but in passive mode the bass is good. I will replace the preamp with the Darkglass preamp soon. I'm not knocking this bass at all, just making an honest review of the one I received.
Sound
The passive sound is great, the preamp not so much. Most of what I play is 70's rock and 80's metal, so it fits the bill for that.
Features
I love the roasted maple neck after filing down fret sprout, compound radius fretboard and the DiMarzios are awesome. The neck is almost like if you put an Ibanez fretboard on a Jazz bass neck with a p bass headstock, lol. It plays like butter and very comfortable to play.
Ease of Use
Had a grounding issue that I was lucky enough to know how to fix, after the buzz was gone it sounds good. The preamp isn't that balanced or something, something that I can't put a finger on but don't like. Darkglass in the very near future.
Quality
The bass itself is made very well. It's not super heavy and sets well with a strap with zero neck dive.
Value
I didn't think that I'd have to work on a $1000 bass, so that threw me. It sucked to have to take it apart to fix issues.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to call for support.
The Wow Factor
I love the way it looks.
