I have 4 tube amps that I keep in my garage. Those amps sound unreal and are my favorite way to play guitar.....when nobody is home. However, they take time to set up and there are cables and they are loud. I don't always have the free time. Sometimes I just want to spend 15 or 20 minutes practing on the couch or doing a truefire lesson on the tv. My problem has always been that I don't want to lug a tube amp inside and the little practice amps sound like cheap toys. The headphone amps don't output to speakers. I got this Katana Air EX and it's the perfect amp for in-the-house practicing and video lessons. It's portable, so you can move it around. It sounds really good through the built in speakers, but the real kicker for me is that I can run it from the line outs to my surround sound system in the living room. I just Bluetooth my video lessons from Apple TV to the amp and the whole enchilada comes out through the surround sound. Now when I walk into the living room and see my guitar, I just pick it up, turn on the tv and the amp is on and ready to go. It's great! Not the cheapest one of these out there, but I think the simplicity and ease of use is what you are getting for your money here.

In the realm of desktop practice amps, the EX is the king of high fidelity. Big sound for such a small footprint. While some may prefer to have (mediocre) 50 amp models, 100's of effects, IRs, ect... the EX offers plenty of great tones that will be more than enough for most. The larger speakers, wood case, tuned bass-reflex port and Boss sounds all contribute to the highest fidelity sounds you can achieve in a desktop amp. And of course, zZounds made it easy to purchase and got it to me next day :) 5 stars for zZounds!

So this amp got me super excited when I learned about it. Within 3 days I had to buy it. Upon receiving it I was super pumped, only to be let down. The amp has just regular effects and every channel sounds muffled. I have the katana mini and it has way more umph behind it. Plus the app sucks, and is not helpful at all
