Unless it breaks, I don't anticipate being done with it. If my band gets bigger venues, I will by different components for that. But even then, I expect we will still play smaller venues from time to time, and I will use the Matrix 1000 for that. I WILL be getting different monitors, but the FOH system will be the Matrix.
Sound
This is truly an plug-n-play PA. I use a dBX device between the mixer and the Matrix 100-V2, which has sub-harmonic synthesizers (takes low sounds, and duplicates them an octave lower, then mixes that with the output). When we play, I get tactile confirmation of the drum through the vibration of the floor. It's the best! I use Carvin mikes, a Carvin board, and the Matrix 1000. Feedback is really inspired by uneven, spikey response of one or more elements in the signal path. I NEVER have a feedback problem, and we play pretty loud. We rehearse with the Matrix pointed right at us (and our microphones) without any feedback problems. (We rehearse quieter than we perform, but the PA is pointed at us at rehearsal.)
Features
It is a little scary to have the knobs on the bottom while rolling this system around, but it hasn't been a problem yet. The stacking of the satellites on the subwoofer is handy, but the tie-down strap is suitable only for filling a garbage can. The catches broke the first time I tried to use it.
Ease of Use
Roll subwoofer into place, remove satellites. Plug one mike cable from the board, daisy-chain the second amp from the first, put the satellites on their tripods, run speaker cables and power cord, start playing. It is the best!
Quality
The only problem is that the holes for the tripods on the satellites are ever-so-slightly tapered. Getting them separated at the end of the night is a challenge.
Value
I look at the prices to duplicate this functionality, and it is way more than double the price, with far less ease of use and symbiosis between the components.
Manufacturer Support
I had a few question, some of which I expected blowback on, but they answered right away, without the blowback I expected ("NO! You can't do that!"). THe answer was civil, and helpful, unlike a lot of the clueless answers I get from musical supply vendors.
The Wow Factor
I was very drawn to this product. I am very happy to have it -- sometimes I just look at it and smile...
