One of the drawbacks of in-ear monitors is feeling isolated from the crowd and from conversations between band members. Some bands use crowd mics, but they tend to mostly pick up whoever is sitting closest to the mic. These ASI’s solve that problem nicely. There are small mics built into the buds, and a belt pack that allows you to set how much ambient sound comes through. Plus there’s graphic eq. (through an app that’s Bluetoothed to your phone) that lets you tailor the ambient sound to taste. The quality of sound is very good - on par with the Westone buds I used to use. If there’s a drawback, it’s that you have to wear two belt packs. The pack that comes with the ASI’s only controls ambient sound, so your IEM’s belt pack is still used to control your mix. A 3.5mm TRS cable connects the two packs. All in all, a worthwhile upgrade if you can get past the price tag.
