Alvarez MGA66ESHB Masterworks Grand-Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar

The Alvarez Masterworks Grand Auditorium's African mahogany top makes the abalone accents shimmer, just like chords will on this richly voiced guitar.

This is a really nice guitar, with one issue. I have recently purchased 3 Alvarez guitars, including this model, and found that the bone nut on all three were improperly cut causing the 1st (high E) string to be too close to the edge of the fretboard. The result was the 1st string would slip off the fret/fretboard when played. I had a luthier check it out, and he determined that the nut was indeed improperly cut... On all three guitars! I contacted Alvarez, informing them of the manufacturing defect, and they were kind enough to send me 3 uncut nuts at no charge. However, when I asked if they would pay for a qualified luthier installation (an cut) they said that to repair the guitars I would have to ship them back to the Alvarez factory. I felt this was a huge inconvenience for a customer who just spent over $850 for a flagship guitar. It is an obvious defect caused directly by poor quality control at the factory... on 3 guitars, all different Alvarez models. Other than that, it's a fine guitar, but you should be aware of this issue with ALL new Alvarez guitars.

"Excellent value for your money. MGA660ESHB"

I bought the Alvarez MGA660ESHB acoustic/electric guitar from guitar center today. I have been running around town searching for this particular model (not to be confused with MGA66ESHB). This guitar is basically the same as MGA66ESHB except it has an arm rest that you only find on the Taylor presentation series and new 900 series. To me the arm rest is an important wow factor. Also I believe only a few MGA660ESHB are made and I cannot even find any reference to it on the Internet. There is exclusivity that comes with this MGA660 guitar (not MGA66) I agree with Bill W. 's review. Even the low E string has not slipped off in my case, the E string buzzing is quite annoying. Other than that, it is an excellent guitar at this price and the shaded edge burst and arm rest are just stunning.
