A good 1st uke for guitar players (nut is a bit on the narrow side for a tenor uke). Looks nice, slotted headstock is a nice touch, well balanced, satin finish feels good, and with the solid spruce top and laminated rosewood back and sides the sound is quite vibrant. Spent only a few bucks having the rough fret ends smoothed out, and playability is very good. Intonation is good, too. Now that I'm hooked on ukuleles, I plan to get a high-end instrument, but I will still keep this one. Assuming Alvarez's Chinese manufacturing QC is consistent, I can't imagine how anything could be better for well under $200.00.
