Cheaply made... module doesn't like staying on .the kick mechanism (I USE MECHANISM very LOOSELY TOO~~SUX Cheap....) But it was bought for my 4 yo so...He's gonna destroy it anyway..I've played them they DO have good sounds when the module stays on....I would send them back but the boxing is so frigging complicating It's not worth the trouble....In me opinion if you're gonna buy alesis go to the one that's 20 bucks more and has a kick pad not the thing that's was 399 get the one that's 419...or a real acoustic set......

"I'd pay $100 more for this!"

Overall, I'm pretty happy with my decision. I understand that I may have software issues in the near future, (Many people have according to the Alesis forums) but as of right now, this kit has exceeded my expectations.
Sound
I bought this with the expectation that I would be buying a small, cheap toy. I wanted to start playing in my apartment, and this seemed like it would get the job done. Well, when I plugged in my head phones, the sound shattered my expectations. Everything sounded realistic, and the pads were all working properly. (ride isn't too sensitive though).
Features
The module is simple, yet complex. It's easy to use, but there are a good amount of features. I'm still playing around and learning.
Ease of Use
The set-up directions are pretty awkward, so you may have to "wing it". I managed to set my dm6 up correctly with my first try, and the set is pretty easy to use.
Quality
The frame is pretty solid. (Made of aluminum I believe.) I was pretty careful when playing for the first time, but I did manage to play a little harder than usual towards the end. (Like I said, I expected this to be a toy of a set, so I wanted to be careful) From my first night of playing, it seems like it could take some heavy playing.
I have noticed a bit of a sensitivity issue with the ride, but I'll look into that before I write any further.
Value
This product is a steal. I don't mean to rip ZZounds off in any way, but I would buy this set if it were $100 dollars more. For the price, I feel like I'm getting a product that will definitely hold it's own.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to use Alesis yet, but I've done research on their forums. The company seems to respond well to customer questions.
The Wow Factor
To be honest, I expected this set to be a low-end version of the DM6 USB kit. After watching videos and doing research on the USB kit, I was hesitant on buying the Session kit. (I only bought the session because the USB kit was out of stock.) If I had the choice between the two, I would have probably gone for the USB kit.
After playing, I realized that this kit was pretty solid, and VERY similar to the USB kit.
