"A high quality, all round microphone that suits me."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I have no reason to change this for anything else. If it werelost I would replace it with the same. I have had some superb, vivid recordings ( modern jazz, choral and folk) with this and could probably only better this with much more expensive mics such as Neumanns.
Sound
clean sound with a clear deep bass reproduction
Features
good shock mount.
Quality
Good solid construction as I would expect from AKG. easy to use switches. Good matching between pairs of mics. It is very dependable. I don't need tothink about a back up. Could last longer than me.
Value
It compares very favourably with other mics of its quality.
Manufacturer Support
Easy to reach. very friendly. gave me excellent advice in comparing this mic with others from their range and other manufacturers.
The Wow Factor
Has a good solid, professional look. It feels good to handle. It impresses clients by its looks and size.

Musical Style:

Jazz, Choral, Folk, improvisations, live performances.

"AKG C4000B: Professional quality for digital studio recording"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Those two C4000B will be kept a long time... till worn out ;-), and could be complemented with different models for specific instruments(e.g. drums. My choice was a quality/price based: the solid tube mikes were more expensive, while the perceived difference in quality was not big.
Sound
The C4000B sound is crisp, precise and still warm. I use a pair of AKG C4000B's with a Korg D1600 Digital Recording Studio for Jazz and Classical Piano and solo instruments recording Even compared to Solid Tube technology, the C4000B are excellent
Features
Being able to change Filtering and sound tresholds are very useful when doing a versatile recording with Piano plus wind instruments (re-recording)
Quality
Looks and Sounds very reliable, no cosmetical probs. either
Manufacturer Support
Not applicable for the C4000B, but I had broken an older AKG mike that was very well handled by the company (that was quite an older piece of equipment)
