We used the older original version for years and decided to stay w Akai when we chose to upgrade some of our studio gear. We've tried out every style and brand i do-it-all controller in this size/performance range --This unit works best for us in our Studio One Sphere DAW setup.Maps instantly,easy to use w synths and virtual instruments,and provides DAW transport control,etc.,plus Akai includes some tasty software with the purchase. I've seen alot of these in all kinds of studios and performance rigs and have yet to hear any shade thrown. Solid,known entity....get one.
