The Akai Fire is a well thought out product specifically designed for FL Studio. I have been an FL Studio user for 8 years and this product is perfect for use with establishing patterns, as an FPC drum controller, and most important for me as a hands-on control of transport functions and mixer settings. You can assign the four rotary encoders under "USER 1" or "USER 2" to provide hands-on real-time control of any linked controller functions. This is essential if you are recording automation for mix-down. The LED pads are very useful for both pattern writing and as visualizers for post-production. If you have FL Studio, or are considering buying it, this is THE piece of gear you are looking for to integrate as your DAW controller!!!

The AKAI FIRE exceeded my expectations and zZounds gave me a great deal. The Note mode on this is very special. You can set the root note and key you want to play in and go nuts. The filter and resonance control over what ever channel you are on is excellent. I'm getting snappier snares fast as I'm making a beat before even mixing my sounds. Long time FL users: this a no brainer. I didn't "need" another midi controller, i have a MPD226 and my micro korg hooked up through midi, but adding this for $100 was a great move and has already inspired new music i wouldn't have made the same way otherwise.

Control everything you need on FL with this controller. This is perfect for travel if you don’t want to travel with a full sized keyboard. Plug it in a play drum pads, keys, or anything you have in FL! The pads are sensitive enough to play keys and sounds how you like! (for those who know what that means.)
