My wife & I really like everything about this new laser+LED combo light. The light effect is soft & classy (vs. harsh and cheezy for many DJ lights). This unit might not be right for some typical DJ situations. But this is perfect for our living room with a high architectural ceiling where I have a near professional quality Karaoke system with a grand piano. My wife hates DJ lights, since they cheapen the living room appearance at night. I totally agree with her on this point. However, now she even loves this new DJ light (American DJ Atmosphric RG). We have already received many "Wow!" for our dinner guests. There is a step-up unit called American DJ Hyponotic RGB costing about twice as much. Although I am not 100% sure, basically it replaces the purplish blue LED cloud-like effect with purplish blue laser lights. I am not entirely sure if it is really worth the cost difference. The purplish-blue LED lights do a pretty good job in creating wide angle cloud-like patterns. Matt, Hilton Head Island
