"Excellent sound, High Quality!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Highly recommended: From a DJ with 10 years of club experience. Pros: Excellent sound Good Quality Good value Cons: Would have liked to see a sampler or Effects built in for this price. Would have liked to see Split cue in headphone section. Esthetically a bit boring.
Sound
The sound out this mixer is incredibly clear and without distortion. The bass is rich and smooth unlike other lower end mixers. The mids and highs are very crisp. The equalizers are excellent and precise. The sound alone is worth the money paid for this mixer.
Features
The number of features are perfect - not excessive and not too bare boned either. I love the crossfader curve adjustments. The equalizers are smooth and are great for tweaking with the bass/mids/treble. I would have preferred to have a split headphone cue, but the standard stereo cueing is more than adequate. The Penny Giles crossfader is smooth as silk and does not bleed at all. It has plenty of LINE and PHONO inputs and XLR and RCA master outputs.
Ease of Use
The mixer is very simple in design, perhaps a little too simple. Yet I prefer a simple mixer than one with tons of cheap looking buttons and flashing lights. This mixer is very clean looking and intuitive to use. The crossfader curves take a little adjustment and experimenting to figure out what suits what mixing style best.
Quality
This thing is built like a tank. As soon as you pick it up, it's like a small black box - indestructible. All the buttons have a nice rubbery feel to it and do not have the cheap plasticy feel to them. The faceplate and construction design is very professional and up to par with other high end mixers. The design/paint looks a bit boring, but I rather have a mixer that performs well rather than one that looks good.
Value
I will say that this mixer is worth every penny so in that regard it's a great value. This is a high end mixer, and it's up their with Rane, Urei and others. Although for this price you can get many other mixers with more bells and whistles, but for this price and sound quality and the quality is hard to beat.
Manufacturer Support
I have not needed to contact Allen & Heath so far. I have had this mixer and done a few parties with it, and so far it's performed without any problems. The warranty is for 1 year, but I recommend extended warranty. Extended warranty from the retail store is very reasonably priced and for a mixer of this price, it's additional peace of mind.
The Wow Factor
Esthetically a bit blah. This won't win a supermodel competition, but sure will knock the socks off many mixers in this price range. I would buy one again if it got stolen/lost.

"Good, solid scratch/battle mixer."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Good product; I'd try to find it used, and only really invest in it if you're going to be doing battle work or scratch work; for club mixing look into their other mixers or to other brands, because at this advertised price you can get a really nice club mixer from some other companies.
Sound
Good, decent sound; really up to the quality of your monitors or amps and the condition or your decks and vinyls though.
Features
If you are just into scratching or battling this is a really great deal; the option to go hamster style is really easy on this thing, all the crossfaders are reversible, which is really convenient for us hamster style enthusiasts. Like I said though, this is strictly for battle/scratch DJing, if you want to do mixing or combination of scratch and mix look at the other allen & heath models.
Ease of Use
Really quite simple to set up, it was the first mixer I got and I had it set up in about 10 minutes tops.
Quality
This thing is pretty durable; I have not had to replace any crossfaders or get it repaired (thank goodness) and all your really need to do is clean the crossfader slots with some compressed air once in awhile.
Value
Good price I guess, Allen & Heath makes a good product; I got this mixer for used but at the advertised price for here you could get a really decent Rane loaded with effects for mixing.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had the need for it, but Allen & Heath is a top electronics manufactu
The Wow Factor
Reminds me of the older Vestax mixers in style, but I mean mixers are not supposed to look glamorous ha.

"Plain Jane is Back."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

GREAT MIXER AND YEAH I WOULD BUY ANOTHER ONE. I HAVE TWO ALREADY. And besides my Rane setups I don't buy any other mixers
Sound
I've had alot of mixers while doing this live mixing thing. I've been on the radio, in the clubs(to many to count), Wedding and all the usual stuff. I don't usually give a ten to mixers with such a low price tag, but this mixer is by all accounts the best for the money. I was a bit skeptical with buying the thing but I needed one a.s.a.p. and the store was all out of my usual Rane ttm57, or Rane ttm56. First off, the look of the thing is kind of plain Jane. Then I turned it on. Its probably got the best sound quality I have heard. The bass is unbelievably clear even at higher levels. The mids and highs are very precise. There is no bleeding that I can hear at all. I actually was approved to use this mixer in radio brodcasts. Now I have two of these boys. I use it mainly in the top end clubs where the sound engineer is very picky about what to use. He had no problem with this mixer. In recording would like to see a recording post but other than that the Cd's come out very clear.
Features
I absolutely love the EQ. The style and the way its used are perfect but simple. I would like to see a frequency cut button because when you try to mix and scratch it makes it better to use. Other than that its very clean and simple. I LIKE CLEAN AND SIMPLE. I am not really upset about no effects. If I wanted effects I will buy the machine to do effects. The mixer is great for mobile djs.
Ease of Use
The only reason I gave it a 8 was it took me a little while to figure out all the bleeding contours and the relation from gain to master volume. After figuring that all out it then goeds to a ten.
Quality
Like I said before the look of the thing is plain Jane. What it lacks in looks it makes up for in Sound quality and for that ,matter over all quality. Overall Very reliable, sturdy, good sounding mixer.
Value
THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK. Excuse the cheap cliche.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal with support yet. But if I do then I will update.
The Wow Factor
Like I said Very plain Jane. If looks are what you want this mixer will dissapoint. Just watch out when you turn it on and use it.
