In ancient times (like the 1970s), musicians would take a vinyl LP record and manually spin the record on a turntable, slowing it down to be able to better hear and understand the performances, like guitar solos and complex chord changes. With the CD-GT1mkII, you get a training method that's even better. Not only can you slow down the speed of the CD by up to 50%, but you can do it without changing the pitch of the original material! After you learn the lick at a slow speed, you can increase read more the tempo in steps until you can match the original performance note for note. Also, you can change the pitch of the CD without changing the speed...use this feature to "tune the CD" to your guitar.

"We used it extensively to prepare for our latest tour. You can slow a fast solo down and song quality doesn't disintegrate." Dave Mustaine, Megadeth

Get it, get it, you just must get it (no I don't work for tascam)
Sound
Given it's portabilty I didn't have very high expectations for this unit's sound quality. However, the sound is very good. The effects are easy to modify and finding just the right tone is a breeze. I've been using it with headphones, but expect patch it into other gear via the line out will produce equaly pleasing results.
Features
Where to start. This baby is packed with features. I'm a bit fussy about tuners and didn't expect this "built in" feature to replace my stand alone unit. I was wrong on that note, one less thing to carry. The same for metronome. Works like a champ. CD sound is very good, and the effects are easy to call up, mix and modify.
Quality
This is a solid, serious, peice of equiptment. It has a robust "Feel" to it and stays put on the table even with lots of stuff conected to it.
Value
Though there isn't much else out there to compare this too, I'll take a minute to tell you this is a must have unit. Like me, I'm sure you'll be taking it everywhere, and plugging into it as much as anything else you own. It's fun, it's useful, it's a must have.
The Wow Factor
I'll say it again. You'll be more happy with this thing than anything else you've bought this year. I was curious, and bought it to satisify that need to know. Now that I have it, I can't stop using it. So easy to carry, so easy to use, this is fun!
