Even those with a sinister inclination deserve to experience the funky style and playability of the Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Electric Bass.

Is "funkify" a word? It is now, baby, thanks to Squier's retro-inspired Vintage Modified Jazz Bass guitar!

This handsome natural-finish left-handed bass features a soft maple body and one-piece maple neck with sharp-looking black binding and block inlays on the 20-fret maple fingerboard. That soulful sound emanates from a pair of single-coil Duncan Designed(TM) Jazz Bass pickups; other features include chrome hardware and machine heads, a three-ply pickguard and a four-saddle chrome bridge.

I cant think of any cons for the Vintage Modified 70s J-Bass.... Great tone (beyond MIM Jazzes) and excellent quality for a low priced Bass... A lot of people want to go with active electronics, but fender passive basses have a great classic sound to them without having to worry about replacing batteries in active setups... The Duncan Pickups do this one justice, trust me!

Sound
I was a bit wary of buying a Squier product, because in the past I've owned a Squier Affinity Strat, which was very low quality, sound and tuning problems, terrible factory setup.... I actually checked out this bass in guitar center before buying, and was very pleased with the sound... This actually sounds way better and was set up near perfectly compared to my MIM Fender Jazz! The Duncan Pickups have an excellent sound to them, which I would describe as the classic Jazz Bass tone but with less noise and a bit higher output as compared to the standard Fender J-Pickups...

Features
The features are your regular vol/vol/tone as on most passive Jazz Basses - The pots are tight and durable, and the quality is noticeable. These pots are chrome as compared to the black style on standard Jazz Basses...

Ease of Use
I love the neck on this bass, quick and thin at the nut, as compared to the Precision bass, which is a bit meatier... But all Jazz Basses have this great neck... This is by far my favorite "go to" bass in my read more collection...

Quality
Better quality, in my opinion, then the standard Jazz from Fender... Excellent craftmanship for an overseas made bass! No problems with action, intonation, or components... This is a great deal for lefties too, because we dont have much of a selection...

Value
This is the best value for around $300 for an amazing sounding bass, hands down...

Manufacturer Support
Never had to call because the product is flawless... I've owned mine for about 7 months, no problems...

The Wow Factor
The bass itself is beautiful, the laquered coated natural wood grain is stunning, and the maple fretboard has black painted block inlays... They have never scratched off when cleaning or playing.... The neck itself is a smooth maple on the back for quick sliding. My friends are suprised to see such a high quality bass from Squier! This one definitely stands out from the crowd as well... Great looking Bass!
