Ibanez RGD71ALPA Iron Label Electric Guitar

The ideal Ibanez metal machine! The Ibanez RGD71ALPA Iron Label guitar is designed to handle the demands of down-tuning and offers optimized tonal response.

What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Bare Knuckle Aftermath pickups Accelerated bass response, precise high-ends
Nitro Wizard neck Comfortable, fast, and easy-to-play neck
Poplar burl top Beautiful wood grain, produces bright tones
Macassar ebony fretboard High-density wood; smooth playing feel

The RGD is Ibanez's ultimate metal machine. The demands of down-tuning require a specifically designed responsiveness not found in "normal" guitars. To optimize for the rich, desirable thickness of tone that down-tuning produces, we extended the neck by one inch to a 26.5" scale. Longer-than standard yet not overly long. The neck is still considered a "fast" neck for speed soloing. Extra-deep cutaways grant comfortable access to the necks highest notes.

- Axion Label -
The Axion Label series takes the established elements of modern electric guitar design and push them to new, lesser-explored territory. Similar to how the Bass Workshop series delivers the cutting-edge of bass, Axion Label dives into elements like multi-scale design, ultra-modern pickups from Fishman(R), Bare Knuckle, and DiMarzio, as well as hardware innovations like the Evertune bridge. These elements are just the tip of the iceberg for this ultra-modern series, and only the beginning of its ultimate potential.

Features:

- Nitro Wizard 5pc Panga Panga/Walnut neck
The Super-thin and ultra-playable Nitro Wizard 5-piece Panga Panga/Walnut neck substantially increases sustain.

- Macassar Ebony fretboard
Macassar Ebony produces tight lows and mid range along with strong attack in the highs and quick response with rich sustain.

- Jumbo Sub Zero treated frets
Sub Zero treated frets can stand up against the hardest riffing and string-bending.

- Poplar Burl top / Layered Ash & Nyatoh body
The Poplar Burl top impresses read more with an exotic wood grain. Combining Ash and Nyatoh delivers a well-balanced tone, from bottom low-end all the way to the top.

- Bare Knuckle Aftermath pickups
Hand-wound in UK, Bare Knuckle Aftermath pickups deliver accelerated bass response for tracking high-speed staccato riffing, with increased focus in the mid and superb high-end articulation.

- Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads
The Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads achieve incredible tuning stability, cutting down string-changing time.

- Mono-rail bridge
Designed for both stability and sustain, the innovative Ibanez Mono-Rail bridge minimizes cross-talk between strings

- Coil-tap switch
The coil tap switch adds sound and tonal variations for both pickups.

- Schaller S-Locks strap lock pins
Indestructible Schaller S-Locks don't fail, even under the toughest conditions on stage.

- 26.5 inch scale
Its extra long 26.5" scale and ability to accurately intonate heavier string gauges, make it the perfect beast for down-tuned metal.

I received this guitar this morning and couldn't stop playing it. I was skeptical about it having passive pickups since I've always had actives in all of my guitars. The Bare Knuckle Aftermath set definitely have that bass response that I'm always looking for. This would be my second guitar to have aftermarket passives already installed and it has definitely changed my mind about them completely. The finish is absolutely beautiful. The matching pickups with the finish fits so well. This would also be my very first natural-ish finish guitar. I do see a few imperfections on the finish. Not very noticeable at the face of the guitar. More on the bevel and behind the neck. The strings are once again cut too short behind the post but did not fall or slip out of place like the last RGD I bought. The monorail bridge is the same as always, though I wish it had a Gibraltar or a Hipshot since the price is up there. Overall, it's a hell of a guitar and I would definitely recommend it.
Features
The Bare Knuckle Aftermaths are new to me. I've always had active (EMG, Fishman Fluence Moderns, Seymour Duncan Blackouts) in all of my years of playing guitar. I have a Schecter with a Nazgul Sentient set and these top it.
