Ibanez RG1XXV 25th Anniversary Premium Electric Guitar

True rock sound and style converge in the RG1XXV, blessed with DiMarzio IBZ pickups and a 5-piece Wizard neck reinforced with KTS Titanium.

If the RG1XXV is Ibanez's dragster, the S series is Ibanez's classic GT racer. A marvel of form and function; it's graceful, sculpted, lightweight mahogany body is stronger and more musically responsive than guitars weighing twice as much.

Almost every artist follows the same path to mastery: extended periods of concentrated effort spent honing the skill set, often followed by a long period of artistic imitation. This mimicry serves as a foundation on which the artist's contribution of genius to his field of endeavor will be built. So it is with master instrument builders. In the 70s, Ibanez crafted copies with such intensity and diligence that they often surpassed the quality of the originals.

Clearly, Ibanez ranked among the world's best. The big question: could Ibanez deliver their own original contribution to the guitar world?

It didn't happen easily. Or overnight. But in 1987, Ibanez created not one, but two guitars that would join the modern musical instrument pantheon.

Developed first as the Roadstar, the fully "Ibanezed" pedal to-the-metal RG is known throughout the rock and metal world as a full-bore performer. The thin "Wizard" necks are only one of the many innovations that make the RG, the streamlined, no-nonsense all-time favorite of fast players.

I have to say i am very very impressed with this guitar! I've always been someone who plays on les pauls and classic electrics and this guitar just blew me away! I've been playing electric for 7 years and sad to say 5 of those years I stuck myself to les pauls. I've always dreamed of having a guitar with a floyd rose or a floating trem and just never had the money to get one. I was always told not to get one that they where too much a hassle. well i have to say i love this guitar. the neck is a 5 piece maple walnut and it is amazingly thin and comfortable! i love the edge zero ii trem. it is also very comfortable and stays in tune very well. I learned how to tune it correctly and it is a lot of fun! the dimarzio pickups sound really good. i hear some people say they aren't enough so they change them out, but i think they sound just fine. they get great cleans and a clear hard distortion. also another thing i like about this is the fact its pink! It stands out and thats what i love about it! I have had only one problem with the guitar, and that is the trem arm. it won't stay in place like it screws out the more i use it. i have played on other ibanez premium models and the trem arms are the same and they stay. so i think its just the arm that needs to be replaced. Other than that the rg1xxv is an amazing guitar. very comfortable and an excellent choice for my first ibanez!

Sound
I play a lot of metal but also build up from cleans to heavy distortion. read more there is a wide range of tone with the dimarzios. you have the 5 way pickup selection so you can go a nice beefy tone to a clear distortion which sounds really good. i usually use the bridge humbucker in distortion because it sounds clear, but heavy, and on cleans I switch between the neck humbucker and 4 postion for cleans. I run the clean through an acoustic simulator and it just sounds pure.

Features
the 5 piece neck is very comfortable and fast. it has a natural flat finish on it so it is very soft which helps to make it fast. the edge ii zero trem is a nice feature. it is very easy to use, easy to tune, and the back where you can adjust bridge tension is also very cool and easy to adjust. It as well is very comfortable and it stays in tune very well with the string locks. And last but not least, the shark tooth inlays on the fret board are an eye catcher! (first time i showed my college professors my guitar, that's the first thing they where all over.) I think ibanez has put a great selection of parts together to form this guitar.

Ease of Use
I am a tonal freak so i can come up with a great sound just by sitting and playing with settings that my amp head and guitar has to offer. I had a problem with my les pauls, they had a bit of feed back and i couldn't find out why, but i haven't had that problem at all with the rg1xxv. the sound is very crisp with the ibanez. If you don't or haven't had any experience with trem systems you should do a ton of research on how to use them, control them, tune, and setting them up. I have always dreamed of having one, i just never got one but i did a ton of research on them so when i did get one i would know how to use it, and what to do with it when i got it. so there is a bit of research to do if you don't have the knowledge on them. but once you get it, you'll love it!

Quality
I think this guitar is great. Awesome neck! Awesome Trem! Great Sound! I use this guitar everyday and as much as i have been playing on it the last 3 weeks I've had it, it is very sturdy and dependable. It is my main guitar. I still jam my les pauls, but this is my favorite guitar by far.

Value
I'd say this guitar is worth the price it is. i have tried 2 other premium models, the rg920qm, and the newest s premium that came out. both of those guitars didn't quite feel right nor sound right but also that could have just been they where floor models. This guitar however is about 100 bucks under the other rg premiums which is cool considering its the same thing as the 1000 dollar ones just in yellow or pink. if you don't like pink or yellow, i wouldn't recommend you getting this guitar.

Manufacturer Support
I have only registered the guitar under ibanez's warranty, but they have been fast to answer questions especially if there is a problem with a part or and update to other parts.

The Wow Factor
IT IS PINK!! :D first thing to catch your eyes is the color! It is a beautiful and online pics don't do it any justice.
