Hohner M758501 Super 64 Chromatic Harmonica

Hohner's Super 64 chromatic harmonica features a VarioSpring system for individual adjustment of slide spring tension plus a SlientSlide for quiet operation.

The original HOHNER Super 64 has embodied the high end chromatic harmonica since it first came on the market. With the new Super 64, HOHNER upgrades this iconic instrument with a breathtaking design and a whole range of innovative features. The VarioSpring System permits individual adjustment of slide spring tension, while the revolutionary construction of the SilentSlide is exceptionally airtight and almost completely silent in operation. In addition, the optimized comb chambers ensure the fastest possible response.

The new Super 64 also sets new standards in durability and ease of maintenance. The reed plates are mounted with screws, without contact to the covers, reducing reed wear and making basic maintenance much simpler. The covers are attached separately and the nylon case provided also serves as a mobile work bench. Truly a giant step in the evolution of the chromatic harmonica.

I have owned mine for maybe 2 years of so and just love this harmonica. It is a pro level instrument and great for jazz, blues, standards of any style you want to pursue. I was a pro bassist but only an amateur with harmonica but can play decently within my limitations. I play blues in several keys but find 2nd position especially good because of the full chords you can get with the flat 7 etc. Sounds like a mini orchestra with blues in second position. It has an incredibly huge sound that puts any diatonic harp to shame and this one instrument can do it all with pucker or tongue blocking embechure. Also, it should be great for classical as well. The adjustable slide tension is nice and note bending is easier than other chromatic harps.

Musical Background:

Jazz, Rock, Texas Swing, Blues, C and W
