I'm not crazy about Billy Corgan, or artist series guitars for that matter. But I played one of these up at a local Best Buy, and loved the sound. It has a very warm, clear cleans on the middle and neck pups and great high gain sound on the middle and bridge pickups. I rated the quality and sound a 9 because there is a bit of pickup buzz that wasnt there on the one i tried at the store. I will have to take this to a local shop to track down the buzz. The neck has a satin finish you wont find on American Standards. Maple necks on stock American standards have a gloss finish. This neck is very smooth and comfortable. The guitar is finished in a matte black that looks really nice. I run this guitar through a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister, and through boutique effects - Mad Professor Golden Cello, Keeley Compressor, Eventide Timefactor. This guitar sounds great even plugged directly into my interface, and has a very warm sound on its own with no effects. Truly a versatile Strat. I'm so glad I got this over an American Standard.
