Yamaha SCN2F57 Stage Custom Advantage Nouveau 5-Piece Drum Kit

Cymbals and throne not included

Yamaha raises the bar once again with the new Stage Custom Nouveau. Its 8-ply Birch/Philippine Mahogany/Fakalta shells, YESS tom mounts, wood snare and Nouveau split lugs make for a kit that sounds much more expensive that it really is.

The lugs incorporate a floating design that eliminates contact between the lug casing and shell body to let the shell vibrate freely and reduce damping. Its design also makes for quick and easy head changes since you no longer need to completely remove the tuning bolts from the lugs.

The Stage Custom Nouveau kits also include Yamaha's original YESS clamp system, which allows the shell to vibrate freely without degrading its dynamic range and sustain.

Includes 17x22" wood hoop bass drum, 9x12" & 10x13" toms, 14x16" floor tom, 14x5-1/2" snare, Remo heads and 2 cymbal stands. Cymbals not included.

Equipped with YESS

Long found on our high-end drum kits like the Maple Custom, etc. our original YESS (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System) mounting system is now standard equipment on the Stage Custom Drums. This rod clamp system allows attachment of the drum to the tom holder without the need of a hole in the drum shell for the rod to pass through.

The YESS clamp is attached to the shell with two bolts so as to allow the shell's dynamic range and sustain. This system is also used on our floor tom brackets to deliver maximum sustain.

The Stage Custom Advantage utilizes the same Triple Tom Holder as found on our higher cost Maple Custom drums, etc. read more This holder accommodates two toms as well as a cymbal holder to provide a wide variety of setups possibilities. Just as in the utilization of our YESS system, the addition of these two features delivers added quality and value to the Stage Custom Advantage.

Bass Drum Spurs

A sturdy hexagonal design and fixed angle position allow the spurs to withstand and absorb the tremendous impact of repeated bass drum kicks. Height adjustment is made easily with a drum key.

Yamaha Stage Custom Drum Customer Review

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

This is a great set for beginners who will play for ever and intermediate players. I bought it after I graduated College and I am satisfied that I won't look anywhere else till something extremely goes wrong with it.

Sound
As with most drum set once you put new heads on the set that fit your style of music this set will blow you away. There are sets with better woods for a fuller sound, but for the price you won't be disappointed, probably the best set in this price range.

Features
The stands are only single braced, but it seems that Yamaha's single braced stands are stronger than some companies double braced stands. So I wouldn't let that bother you, plus you might have to lug it around and you will be glad you have single braced at that point.

Ease of Use
With the exception of the floor tom, it is a very easy set to set up, but the floor tom legs must be adjusted with a drum key which is time consuming.

Quality
I haven't had any problems in a yr. But as I said before there are more expensive sets with better woods, this is the best value being made of birch, falkata,(spelling)and mahogany. I like the tone from the rack Toms best.

Value
If you can find this set for just under 899 (I got mine brand new for 750) it is a steal, even at 1000 dollars it is a good value.

Insead of waiting on hold as you do with some companies Yamaha has you take all issues back to the store and they wait on hold after you have left. It doesn't get better than that.

The Wow Factor
The laquer finshes in this product are beautiful. The lighter colors allow the woods to come right out for everyone to see. The darker laquers are harder to tell that they are laquers.
