Double-braced hardware. 6-ply Mahogany shells. Cymbals not included.
Overview
Rydeen
Rydeen is the Japanese God of Thunder, and these drums live up to the name. They give the entry-level player a high-quality kit at a price point never before offered by Yamaha. The 6-ply Mahogany shells have a warm tone and lots of bottom end, and the kit includes double-braced hardware.
Philippine Mahogany Shell
Yamaha has been making drums for over 35 years and we are constantly experimenting to learn more about what makes a great drum. It is with that knowledge that we have been able to extract a richer sound from these new drums. The shells are manufactured using our exclusive Air Seal System. This technique, while enhancing the characteristics of the wood, also ensures that every drum shell is perfectly round, of uniform thickness, and creates a stronger, more durable shell. Even our least expensive entry-level drums are made using this process.
5 Exciting Finishes
The Rydeen series will appeal to the entry level player not only with it's great sound, but with 5 finishes to choose from they will be able to find a color that they are excited about. These kits include a matching wood snare drum and inlayed bass drum hoops.
Universal Size Toms
The Rydeen series toms are Universal sizes that are an inch shorter than power sizes. This gives the drums more sustain and will make it easier for younger players to position them comfortably. Combine these sizes with the available 20" bass drum and you have a quality kit that even young children can play.
Lugs… read more
Rydeen uses the same small low-mass lugs as the YD series used. They are a very clean, simple design. The lugs are a spring-less design to prevent them from rattling.
Bass Drum Spurs
The bass drum spurs are a simple yet sturdy design. They are pre-set for optimum height but will fold close to the shell for transport.
Omni-ball Tom Holders
A pair of Yamaha's famed Ball Clamp Mounts and tom holders mounted in the Rydeens's bass drum ofter maximum freedom when setting up the drums. read less

The score speaks for itself...
Sound
This product is impeccable for the money. The product certailnly does allow to get the maximum performance and sound i am looking for. The Toms ring with gloee. I like this style, but if you don't, then you can just take the bottom skin off the toms. You MUST put a blanket in the bass drum, as this rings overbearingly (?)... I use Sabian pro Sonix crash and ride cymbals and a Zildjian Planet Z hi-hat. These help with the loud ringing sound of the kit. i have also replaced the stock wood snare with Yamaha's 6.5 inch deep steel model, which suits the sort of music I play better than the slightly mellow sound of the wooden snare. This, again, is down to personal choice.
Features
All of the components were Yamah's own brand, with only 3 minor niggles. 1)the bass pedal was of a lower spec than the high hat pedal, 2) it only came with 1 straight stand, and 3) my shop did not supply it with a drum key. I bought a boom stand with the kit. These are really very minor niggles and shouldn't affect your choice when purchasing.
Quality
This kit is very solid and appears well put together. All of the showing parts of wood are varnished and the Royal blue finish (which looks purple in some light and light blue in others). The only thing that robs this kit of a 10 is the slightly cheap peice of royal blue card running around the bass drum (on the outer wooden rim… read more parts, the actual drum itself is painted).
Value
This was the best kit for the money and I was very pleased.
Manufacturer Support
I have not had to deal with Yamaha, which is a testament to this kits strength and build quality. all of the upgrades I have made were simple things and easily done.
The Wow Factor
Yamaha isn't quite as charismatic as Ludwig or Gretsch but the colour is great and the finish etc. is very good
