Overview

The M81 builds off of the same features of the M80 that have made it so popular; minimal proximity effect, superior feedback rejection, and an articulate mid-range. However, with the M81 the top end is pulled back a bit, yielding a flatter overall frequency response. The result is a microphone that not only complements the M80, but also stands on its own in a universe filled with dynamic microphones. The TELEFUNKEN M81 exhibits a wealth of body and clarity, making it a great tool for fattening up percussion, horns, and any thinner sounding sources. The controlled high frequency response is ideal for taming brighter vocals and guitar tones without sacrificing detail.

"Clear sound!"

I chose this because I wanted less high end than the M80, but still a great dynamic with a clear sound.For either my wife or myself this mic sounds great. Clear, clean. You have to watch plosives, and on a stand your direction with the tighter pickup pattern. I found with it handheld with the high pass filter engaged, really working the mic distance on lead or backup sounded clear with less handling noise, and a sweeter sound.I'm glad I got this mic, and will be getting more. With a QSC powered CP8 for a monitor and rehearsal speaker I have an articulate sound to bring the most out of performing.
