zZounds Gear Experts Say...
Extraordinary sound quality, Flat frequency response up to 22kHz, 90-watt active biamped
Overview
TASCAM's VL-X5 bi-amplified nearfield studio monitor is the perfect choice for recording studios, home and project studios, and any other application needing accurate audio playback in a small package.
The VL-X5's extraordinary sound quality can be attributed to its components and how they work together. A custom designed 1-inch silk high frequency driver and a 5.25-inch low frequency driver are coupled with 30 and 60 watt power amplifiers made especially for the VL-X5, giving you crisp, tight highs and rich deep bass. Flat frequency response up to 22kHz makes the VL-X5 a great mixing and mastering monitor. Magnetic shielding means you can safely place a pair of VL-X5s next to your DAW computer screen, and the Acoustic Space Control allows you to place the monitors against a wall or in tight studio corners.
In all, the VL-X5's impressive specifications translate into a much larger and clearer sound field than most monitors in its class.

"VLX5 SLEEPER Monitors WOW !"
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Under normal use, and care, these will last a lifetime!
Sound
Nice Imaging and range, decent x-over point, I was surprised at the Bass response! I feel the 45 Hrz range is exagerated, like most small speaks, however, at least with these you can actually adjust the points of gain to compensate for use with a sub.
Features
In this price range, these have very professional controls, i.e : LF / HF selector switches, this is nice because you KNOW exactly where you adjustments are set. I prefer this over knobs. And of course the gain control.
Quality
Outstanding quality for any price range. I noticed that these are very well construcded, dense , nice joinery, and it appears that these use 3/4 inch MDF with a very nice black ash laminate. The amps appear first rate, and they are clear punchy, and more than loud enough for thier intended use.
Value
Great value, Now that I know just hos nice these are, I would have paid an easy 2 bills more!! It's anice monitor between the KRK v4 and certain 6.5 inchers that I was looking at as well.

Never had to use them...
The Wow Factor
If this is you budget, then you will not be dissapointed. The KRKv4 are my standard comparison monitor in the range, so, these are very good indeed.
