Real DJs know that music shouldn't just be heard, it should be felt. That's why TAPCO named their active loudspeakers "Thump." These pumpin' PA speakers were precision engineered by the minds at Mackie to deliver maximum sonic impact, and are rugged enough to take a thumping themselves. Plus, they're self-powered, meaning you won't have to do a lot of equipment-humpin' to get the club bumpin'. Best of all, you won't be dumpin' tons of cash on these cost-effective enclosures. . . especially when you get them through zZounds! Pardon our tub-thumpin', but there's just no trumpin' the Tapco by Mackie TH15A Thump Active Loudspeakers.

Mackie-Designed For Maximum Impact
These 400-watt brutes have plenty of power to juice up any event, from outdoor gatherings to clubs to huge house parties, and with a 15" woofer, you can be sure everyone in attendance will feel the Thumps. Of course, as TAPCO by Mackie products, the TH15A also boast impressive sound fidelity. The two-way design means both high and low frequencies are amplified cleanly, and the precision-tuned, digitally-controlled crossover makes for a smooth midrange that won't harsh anyone's mellow. And don't be afraid to crank the bass--the TH15A's housing incorporates a bass reflex port for extended low end.

Easy Setup
Active speakers need no external power amp, and the Thumps are no exception. Where the TH15A are tops, however, is in their light weight. At only 36 pounds, the TAPCO TH15A is one of the lightest self-powered speakers read more you can find, especially for sporting a 15" bass driver. Add the reinforced, recessed handles built into the rugged housing, and these speakers are a breeze to transport, mount on speaker stands, or install in clubs and other performance venues. Not only do these TH15As do away with the need for a separate power amp, but you won't even need a separate mixer! A Combo XLR / 1/4" Mic- / Line-in allows for direct connection of microphones, guitars, keyboards, or DJ gear, and a three-band EQ allows for ample sound shaping right at the speaker.

Thumps Make Great Monitors!
Loud? Clear? Rugged? Self-Powered? Sounds like you've got the perfect stage monitor! In smaller setups, monitors are often last on the list, but with the great price of the TAPCO TH15A, you won't have to opt out of a professional live setup. As active speakers, they save you from worrying about setting up a separate power amp for monitoring, and you can daisy chain as many of them together as you need for total stage coverage, something you just plain can't do with passive wedges. Plus, these guys are housed in a resilient, polypropylene enclosure and metal speaker grille that are designed to withstand years of abuse (e.g., feet, boom stands, beer, spittle. . . you get the picture).

Any amplification task you've got, from keyboard amps, front of house speakers, mobile DJ rigs to stage monitoring, the TAPCO TH15A can handle. And at this price. . . take it from zZounds: the Thump is really sumpthin'.

It's working for me. If I hit the lottery, I'll upgrade, but this works great for my club gigs.
Sound
I use this for my guitar sythesizer, and everything sounds great - vibes, B3 organ, keyboards, strings, etc. This really made a differece in my live sound. I gave it a 9 only because at low volumes (like a practice room) it is really noisy, but once you turn up to moderate performance volume, it's clean.
Features
It's lighweight, easy to transport. It has an EQ on the rear, but I never use it - I just set it flat and tweak the EQ through the board. My only complaint is that it comes with a relatively short power cord. Once it's up on the speaker stand, you need another extension cord.
Ease of Use
Plug and play.
Quality
Seems to be well built and durable, but I've only played a few gigs with it. I wish it had a padded case - I can't find one on the market that fits it.
Value
For what I use it for, it's a good value for what I paid. I'm not sure if the "real" Mackie's are worth another $300 (for a 12", not even a 15").
Manufacturer Support
The first one I bought was really noisy - they sent out a new one, no questions asked, with a pre-paid UPS return slip for the old one. Very nice.
The Wow Factor
If you have the money, buy the high-end stuff, but for a budget, the Thump is a good deal.
