Bought this mic about 5 years ago and has recently begun to fail. It has been used a few times a week for the past 4 years for karaoke. I also use the 835 which I purchased a year before this mic. The 835 is still going strong. Both have weathered the drops, the bongo taps on the screen, and the drunken disrespect that a karaoke mix goes through. The mic sounds decent but I did replace it with a 835 which is 50$ more. The sound quality for vocals is more than worth the money. And the 835 has less feedback issues. This mic I would purchase for spoken word. Though it is decent for karaoke. These Sennheiser mics are pretty tough for being made from plastic. I used some of the cheapy mics in the past you spend a hundred bucks and they fail without even being dropped, so a year later you are spending another hundred and the sound quality stinks. This line of mics is a great starting point for karaoke mics. The e835 hand held has been a rock solid mic for years rivaling the Sure SM58.
